DELTA PSI NEWS 2 62 New Members The fall 2022 semester kicked off with recruitment in full swing! It was so exciting to get together with everyone again during Work Week. This year's recruitment experience was fantastic, and we are overjoyed to welcome our 62 new members into the sisterhood! They each have the qualities and values of a great Kappa woman, and we look forward to getting to know them throughout the next year. GPAs and Academics Abroad Our members have continued to excel in their academics, and after grade reports were finalized, we were announced third among the 12 sororities on campus! We had 78 members with 4.0 GPAs and 76 members who made a 3.5 or higher. In addition, one of our members, Hannah Herrignton '20, will be studying abroad in Spain this semester. We love seeing the great things our members are doing in Lubbock, but we thoroughly enjoy seeing the neat experiences our members get abroad! Kappa Klassic Breaks Records We are thrilled to announce that our philanthropy event from the spring, Kappa Klassic, was a huge success! We ended up raising $55,720, which we donated to UMC Children's Miracle Network, our local philanthropy, and The JED Foundation. Over 293 donors participated, and we are grateful for their generous contributions. This is a record amount, and we are proud of our philanthropy chairman, Addison Hand '20, for making it so successful. Congratulations, Dean! We are proud to announce that our loyal finance advisor, Dean Verner Loehr '71, was awarded Advisor of the Year at the FSL Award Ceremony at the end of last semester. It was well deserved, and we are lucky to call her one of our own. Dean has been an instrumental part of Kappa for years and we are excited that she was able to be recognized outside of the chapter for all that she does. Event Highlights and Plans We have quite a few events that have already taken place this semester with more to look forward to. • First, we welcomed our new members and their families to town on September 26 for our New Member Presentation. This was a great opportunity for our new sister's loved ones to meet the other members and their parents! • One of our most exciting rituals, big/little reveal, took place on September 21. There's nothing more fun than welcoming a new member into each family! • We also held our New Member Retreat on September 23. It was wonderful to gather with the 2022 pledge class and get to know each of our sisters. • While we don't have a date for semi- formal yet, we plan on hosting it with Tri Delta sometime in November. This fall semester has already been so fun, and we can't wait to see everything that the year brings! We are looking forward to all the memories that will be made with our sisters!
