A SLICE OF PI GAMMA PHI BETA AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN • FALL 2022 L ifelong membership in Pi Chapter is truly an indescribable honor. With each semester of membership, the undergraduate women of Gamma Phi Beta continue to witness and fully experience feelings of perseverance and achievement while creating positive ripple effects across our campus and community. MOONBALL AND OTHER PHILANTHROPY Of course, our first wave of influence was focused on labor and Building Strong Girls by successfully hosting our Moonball philanthropic event for the first time since 2019. March 5 was filled with joy and great sportsmanship, and some competitive spirit was revealed as different teams, coached by our members, participated in a volleyball tournament. We then continued on a different path in the community by volunteering for the university government's service project, The Big Event, in addition to our chapter-wide 1,712 hours of community service this spring. ACADEMICS Continuing the ripple of our value of learning, our goal of academic excellence has seamlessly expanded as Pi Chapter earned the highest GPA on campus this past spring with a chapter GPA of 3.7. Celebrations did not cease there, as Gamma Phi's footprint in senior honors societies continued; two of our members were tapped into Mortar Board and another two were selected for the Innocents Society. We are tremendously proud of each sister 's devotion to lifelong learning. CHAPTER RECOGNITION The loyalty and legacy of Pi Chapter were wonderfully showcased across many realms throughout the spring and summer. First, the Foundation at International Headquarters highlighted Pi as a role model for our consistent giving history to the Gamma Phi Beta Foundation. In addition, three of our members represented our chapter at Convention in St. Louis, Missouri, and accepted the following awards on our behalf: • E. Adeline Curtis Award for exhibiting excellence in sisterhood, friendship, cordiality, concern, and consideration of others. • Administrative Excellence • Financial Excellence • Academic Excellence NEW MEMBERS Guided by our fearless membership vice president, Emmy Koca '20, we are fortunate to continue our ripple in love through 44 of our newest members.
