4 Alpha Eta Chapter Wendy values the friendships she made at Phi Mu, and she remains close to her sisters. O ver the years, Wendy King Fletcher '87 has acquired several interests, traveling being one of her favorites. "My happy place is definitely on a beach with a book in hand," Wendy enthused. Family trips to the beach or across the world are invaluable time she does not take for granted, similar to the time she spent in Phi Mu. "My favorite undergraduate memory is living in the house," Wendy began. "Amy Searles Karam '87 and I lived together for seven semesters with our closest friends, where we didn't have to cook or clean and where we were able to spend more of our time together. It was an amazing way to live my undergraduate years." Shortly aer Wendy graduated from Louisiana State University, she connected with the Chapter as a volunteer during recruitment as well as a member of house corporation. "Subsequent to my move out of state, however, I haven't frequently attended official alumnae events, but I keep in touch with sisters oen," Wendy explained. "ere are eight of us who lived together in the house who remain close to this day. Whether we go on trips to the beach, tailgate games, or send texts of our life updates, we happily share the ups and downs of life." Because of these close friendships that Wendy has maintained since her time in Phi Mu, she reflects on her sorority experience with a fond heart. "e lifelong friendships I gained are by far the most meaningful aspect of being in a sorority," she stated. Wendy learned leadership skills by serving as treasurer and vice president that serve her to this day. "Learning to work with others, including those with different views, and leading with humility and empathy are aspects that Phi Mu allowed me to practice early on. If you can lead 200 college-aged girls, then you can lead in any corporate setting!" Starting her career with Deloitte in Baton Rouge in 1990, Wendy was firmly equipped with the tools to lead. ("Fun fact: the person who recruited me, Karin Stadolnik Simmons '84, was a fellow Phi Mu!") Aer being admitted to the firm partnership in 2003, Wendy has worked her way up to serving as the lead client service partner on Berkshire Hathaway Inc., finding herself spending many days in Omaha, Nebraska. Additionally, Wendy is a member of Deloitte's Board of Directors, serving on the governance and talent committees. Although her schedule remains busy with work, Wendy still looks forward to her days spent with family. "I enjoyed traveling with the kids when they were little, but I love traveling and adulting with them just as much!" Want to learn more about Wendy?
