The A Publication of Delta Upsilon at the University of Missouri • Fall 2022 Duck call INSIDE: Alumni Spotlight ... pg. 2 | Recruitment with the Newest DU Generation ... pg. 2 | Welcome, New Members ... pg. 3 Chapter Update Coming off a strong summer and formal recruitment effort that added 44 new associate members to the roster, the chapter is prepared for another school year. The chapter entered the year with nearly 170 members, the third largest of all fraternities on campus. Strong spring semester performances in grades and philanthropy, along with extensive member participation in leadership programming over the summer, positions the chapter for future success. Another key development over the summer was the hiring of a new live-in house director. We are excited to report that Mark Gentry was hired to fill this extremely important role. Mark is a 1978 graduate of Mississippi State University who spent his career in investment banking and as an owner operator of a wholesale/retail fishing-supply company. Upon his retirement in 2016, Mark began working as a house director. He has experience at three different fraternities on three different campuses: Mississippi State, the University of Oklahoma, and Mizzou. Mark brings great life experience and an extremely engaging personality to the role, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have him. You can contact Mark at markgentry626@gmail.com. Ignite the Charge Campaign On August 6, the Delta Upsilon Educational Foundation (DUEF) publicly announced a $6 million campaign to expand and increase educational programming for DU undergraduates across North America. Nearly $4 million has already been raised in the private phase. Many of you were generous donors to our campaign to build a new chapter house. That is obviously one critical piece of the puzzle and is essential to the viability of our chapter; beyond that, however, it is the programming and development of our members that lies at the core of our mission. Tax-deductible donations to the campaign can be made for the direct benefit of the Missouri Chapter. We will be communicating additional details in the coming months, but you should know that donor receptions will be held in St. Louis (April 2023) and Kansas City (August 2023) where you will have a chance to hear about this opportunity in person. In the meantime, you can go to deltau.org/ignitethecharge for additional information. I am honored to serve as the campaign chairman and would be happy to engage with you personally. Celebration Plans Lastly, we are still planning an official naming rights celebration regarding the completion of the housing campaign. With the chapter shutdown and then COVID, it has been a challenge. We thank you for your patience and are committed to see this accomplished soon. Fraternally, E.
