Alpha Mu News PAGE 2 T he 2021-22 school year started off with even more excitement than usual, as we returned to campus with some sense of "normalcy" after persevering through the challenges of COVID-19 and online recruitment. Adding to the excitement was our ability to host recruitment in our brand-new, beautiful house. We had an outstanding formal recruitment and welcomed 144 new sisters to Kappa Delta. We were so thankful to be able to hold our traditional philanthropy events this year. During the fall, we raised $20,000 from our ΚΔ Quesadilla event and were excited to host numerous alumnae and parents at the house. This spring, we raised $32,820 from the ΚΔ Kaddyshack Golf Tournament. We also hosted a Parents' Party that weekend, which gave parents the opportunity to participate in the fundraiser and connect with other ΚΔ families. We also always love supporting Girl Scouts; this year, we hosted a virtual confident cookie sales event, which was a competition between all the sororities on campus. We started this event during COVID-19 and decided to keep it because it was so successful—it's a fun and easy way to raise money and encourage cross-Chapter participation. In addition to our ΚΔ National philanthropies, we participated in other Greek Chapter events, including Sigma Chi Derby Day, Tri Delta Pancakes, DG Milk and Cookies, and Sigma Nu Charity Bowl. We have a RebelTHON team every year, and several of our members have served on the committee in addition to being morale captains. We are proud to announce that Kappa Delta won the dance competition at the CASA Encore event. In terms of our social calendar, we were thrilled to see the return of fraternity swaps, sorority dinner swaps, date dashes, and formals. We also held our Emerald Ball—our once-every-four-years formal gown event—at the Jefferson on April 9. We take great pride in the representation we have by Chapter members and their involvement across all aspects of the university. Morgan Atkins '18, a senior Kappa Delta, just finished her term as the president of the Associated Student Body, and Lila Osman '19 was recently elected as her replacement. Aside from these two amazing leaders, we have four sisters in the ASB senate. We are also represented on the Panhellenic Executive Board by Madeline Zacks '18, who just finished her term as Vice President of Philanthropy. Two of our members were recently elected to the Panhellenic Board—Executive Vice President Maggie Walker '19 and Vice President of Finance and Administration Catherine Smith '19. Additionally, 10 of our Chapter members are involved with ASB in other ways, such as legislative council or judicial council. We also have several members who serve as Ole Miss Ambassadors, freshman orientation leaders, and Honors College Ambassadors. We also have 14 cheerleaders, six Rebelettes, and 40 members on the Student Alumni Council. We are well represented in the Honors College and are proud of our five Stamps Scholars. We are delighted with of our growing list of 4.0 GPA members each semester, as academics remain as one of our highest priorities. As Alpha Mu members, we continue to strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and the highest in our Chapter, on campus, and in our community. We are grateful for the support we receive from our families and alumnae as we represent Alpha Mu in our daily endeavors.
