Above: It was an honor to have Kappa Delta National President Susan Stockton and Executive Director Maggie Waples join us in Oxford to present the Council Award to Alpha Mu. A lpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta was excited to welcome Kappa Delta National President Susan Stockton and Executive Director Maggie Waples to Oxford on April 3-4, 2022. The Chapter won the prestigious Council Award at the National Convention last June, and since the convention itself was virtual, Susan visited the Chapter to personally present the award. On Sunday, Susan and Maggie had the chance to tour our beautiful new Chapter House and meet with some of our collegians. Both were impressed by the house and loved that our members had so much space to meet, study, dine, and socialize. On Sunday evening, an alumnae reception was held in their honor at the home of Diane Scruggs, Beta Sigma '66. Alumnae from many different pledge classes had the opportunity to meet both women at the Sunday reception. While on campus, Susan and Maggie met with University of Mississippi Chancellor Glenn Boyce to discuss our partnership with Ole Miss and to thank him for his support of the Alpha Mu Chapter. Chancellor Boyce was very complimentary of the Chapter and appreciated the contributions that our members have made to the university and community. On Monday evening, Susan and Maggie joined the members for dinner at the Chapter House. They dined with council members from both last year and this year as well as members of the current executive board. Following dinner, they attended the Chapter meeting, where Susan made the Council Award presentation. While awarding the honor, Susan said, "To Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta—the National Council Award, symbolic of the sorority's ideals and noble principles and the highest honor Kappa Delta can bestow on a collegiate Chapter. On behalf of the National Council and the entire organization, our deepest gratitude for representing Kappa Delta so well, and congratulations to each of you." Following the meeting, the Chapter hosted a dessert reception in the dining room where members were able to spend time with Susan and Maggie. They enjoyed sharing their experiences in Kappa Delta and at Ole Miss. It was truly wonderful to have these inspiring women visit us at our new home in Oxford and present us with such a prestigious award. With the ending of our Building on a Tradition of Excellence capital campaign last summer, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude to our alumnae and friends who helped us exceed our $2 million campaign goal. Your support has allowed our Chapter to remain a leading sorority at Ole Miss and will ensure our sisters thrive for years to come.
