S I G M A C H I - E X T E R I O R FA C A D E 7/19/2021 3 Our Vision for the Future I n our chapter's effort to assist brothers in becoming men of character, caring husbands, compassionate fathers, and community leaders, housing and scholarship make a significant impact. e history of Mu Mu housing spans eras, but the communal living experience has always provided an opportunity for bonding, a home away from home, and a place for alumni to return. Our home at 700 N. High Street—built and dedicated in 1963—has seen minimal renovations and updates over the past 59 years. As you can imagine, fraternity houses do not naturally improve with age. Expecting our undergraduate brothers to keep a house clean while recognizing even a clean house will look worn is at times unfair. Leaking door frames, an aged roof and boiler, and broken concrete steps are beyond their capabilities. Meeting Today's Needs Today's students and their parents have a higher expectation of their housing dollars. We need to ensure that living in the fraternity house is an attractive option that is competitive with other Morgantown housing options, which have changed radically in the last five years. Revitalized Downtown Campus Construction adjacent to the waterfront area near campus, as well as Reynolds Hall, the new John Chambers College of Business and Economics complex along the water, have once again made downtown campus the place to be. is is an opportunity we must embrace, as it will attract more students to the area near our chapter house. It will also make these investments in our property a sound financial decision. e Mu Mu House Corporation has been working with architects, contractors, and the chapter to determine priorities to improve the living experience of residents and the safety of our guests. Some elements of the project simply cannot wait, while others are dependent on funding to move forward. Plans also include academic and leadership programming scholarships to enrich and support the undergraduate experience. All are vital to our future success.
