2 Mu Mu: Brothers Worthy of Your Investment O ver the past six years, Mu Mu has weathered significant challenges, transformed, and grown. We are all aware that the chapter is currently operating in coordination with Sigma Chi Headquarters and without official WVU recognition. While there have been challenges, the chapter continues to grow, prosper, and develop the memories and brotherhood we enjoyed. Instead of rehashing much of that history, our focus is on opportunities for the chapter to be successful independently and—if beneficial—to eventually repair and restore that partnership with West Virginia University. e chapter has focused on improvements in academics, recruitment, responsible conduct, and bettering each of its members in all aspects with significant support from Sigma Chi. If we are not providing them a safe, clean, and attractive home, they're less inclined to join and to stay around through graduation. n Additional research confirms the most important decisions made by a new student when they arrive on campus are the organizations they join and their living environment (Reynolds, 2007). Sigma Chi membership has a tremendous impact. n More than 80% of college students deal with anxiety, and more than 60% also feel socially isolated/lonely and depressed (JED Foundation, 2020). Greek affiliated students report higher positive mental health scores and lower levels of depression and anxiety (Biddix, Assalone, and Grace, 2020). n Greek members show greater overall involvement and engagement on campus, in student organizations, and in the classroom. ey report stronger learning gains and satisfaction with the college experience (Pike, 2020). Why should we invest in a safe, clean, and attractive home for our brothers?
