Page 3 Beta Sigma Psi A fter a short winter break, the spring semester has come and gone within the blink of an eye. The Chapter shared tearful goodbyes with several graduating brothers. The "DADs" 2019 pledge class of Cameron Rasmus, Noah Smith, Matthew Geller, Eli Ernst, Peter Miller, Carson Deal, and Joshua Reprogle have completed their final semester. They will be missed, and they will be remembered fondly as we wish them the best in their future endeavors. Extensive COVID-19 restrictions finally came to an end at Purdue after spring break. This resumed normalcy was a welcome sight, as many were excited to get involved again on campus. Finally, classes were being held in person again, and the Chapter House had its traditional study tables back to normal. Additionally, Beta Sigma Psi had a dominant run in intramural sports, finishing top four in softball and volleyball as well as top eight in ultimate frisbee. It was an incredibly good time to beat many of the larger fraternities and bond as brothers. Andrew Dobler '20 had one of the most unique ideas for philanthropy—a huge black board with stickers for people to create different designs and images. Overall, the event raised $450 for Habitat for Humanity. The Grand Prix team was hard at work getting the car into shape. Brett Womble '21 is an officer for the Grand Prix Board, and although the car lost in the qualifiers, we are proud to have brought back a Beta Sigma Psi tradition that has not been celebrated for a long time. Not only did we revive the Grand Prix Board, but we also reintroduced the Gold Rose Ball formal (in partnership with the Lutheran sorority Phi Beta Chi), which was a grand evening of music and dancing. Speaking of music, Kyle Burris '21 plays the organ at University Lutheran Church, while Eli Ernst '18 finished his term as president of University Lutheran's student organization. The Chapter House had the pleasure of hosting its scholarship weekend once again, so we would like to extend a special thanks to all the alumni that helped spread the word or interviewed applicants. Beta Chapter had a high level of bragging rights this semester at MEF. We had the largest attendance at the awards banquet with more members than any of the other houses combined. Along with that recognition, we won in four categories, receiving the Hilliard Award, Luther Award, Alumni Volunteer Service Award, and first-ever Jahn and Krug Award. Winning the inaugural Jahn and Krug Award, which is given to the Chapter that has the best alumni relations. was quite meaningful to the Chapter. Between the curb-appeal project this year, the countless alumni that have come back for tailgates (Homecoming in particular), and Michael Shafer '80 (who received the Alumni Volunteer Service Award after hosting several of our Chapter House's Bible studies), Beta Chapter was a shoo-in for this award! We are greatly appreciative of our alumni and their efforts in building on Beta Chapter's legacy. As always, please always feel welcome to stop by for tailgates or to check up on the Chapter and the house for a night. Until then, we hope you have a wonderful summer.
