Memorials and Bequeaths BETA THETA PI FOUNDATION OF OKLAHOMA BEGINS AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS T he Beta Theta Pi Foundation of Oklahoma has set up an endowed scholarship fund at the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma. With a lead gift from Thomas H. McCasland Jr. '55, our scholarship fund endowment has now grown to over $600,000. This year, our local Oklahoma Beta Foundation will start taking applications for scholarships to be awarded to deserving members of Gamma Phi. The amounts of the scholarships have yet to be determined, but the purpose is to continue to promote academic excellence within our Beta chapter. The Beta Theta Pi Foundation of Oklahoma is led by Todd J. Lisle '84. Todd can be reached at tlisle@forvis.com. Other members of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation are: Dow Hughes '85, Michael May '08, Mike LaBrie '90, Nick Coffey '13, Cameron McCasland '18, and Drew Boone '16. If you are interested in contributing to this scholarship endowment fund, you can do so online by visiting cfok.org then clicking on "Donate to a Fund" and typing "Beta Theta Pi Foundation of Oklahoma Scholarship Fund" to designate your donation. Or donations can be mailed to Communities Foundation of Oklahoma, P.O. Box 21210, Oklahoma City, OK. Be sure to make a note directing your donation to the "Beta Theta Pi Foundation of Oklahoma Scholarship Fund." G amma Phi has recently received several memorial gifts and a bequeath from generous alumni and friends. We want to especially note the gifts listed below. David G. Howard '60 left a bequeath in his will to the chapter. David, from Pawhuska, passed away in Kansas City on February 14, 2022, after experiencing failing health for the last several years. The chapter received many donations as memorials for Brent E. Barton '79 after his family requested that donations be made to Oklahoma Beta Chapter in his honor and memory. He passed away on October 15, 2019, after a fierce battle with an aggressive cancer. As part of the 1975 pledge class, Brent formed several lifelong friendships. A special memorial donation was made in honor of Grover C. Ozmun III '59 by Jerry Hatter, owner of Balfour of Norman (Grover started Balfour back in 1974) and University Spirit of America. Grover, a member of the pledge class of 1955, passed away on January 17, 2022. Grover C. Ozmun Jr. '37, Grover's father and number 382 on the roles of Gamma Phi Chapter, preceded him in death. Dorothy Pierce made a memorial gift in honor of Peter G. Pierce III '71 and in honor and remembrance of Pete's brother, Christopher H. Pierce '75. Peter passed away on May 2, 2021. Christopher passed away on June 16, 2014. If you should want to make a gift to the Gamma Phi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi in honor of someone or as a memorial, please use the enclosed form and mail your contribution to P.O. Box 721805 Norman, OK 73070
