alumni.oxepsilon.org GRATEFUL FOR THETA CHI First-Year Alumnus Alec Mitkov '21 Shares the Impact of Epsilon Chapter A lthough only a year has passed since I graduated and became a eta Chi alumnus, I feel as though a decade has passed since I was no longer considered an active Brother. Since leaving, I have been working non-stop at my dream job, putting in over 100% effort every single day. In this time, I have realized just how much eta Chi meant to me as a place to engage socially and unwind. Furthermore, I realized that, when I left eta Chi, I was simultaneously prepared and entirely unready for the future before me. While at eta Chi, I developed a sense of patience and perseverance through difficult academics with the help of the brotherhood that surrounded me. Having Brothers around me to keep me going and with whom I could share a deep camaraderie is something I miss dearly, and sometimes I find myself wistfully daydreaming of going back in time to those days. Life moves on, however. Honestly, life would have been significantly worse for me without eta Chi both during and after my graduation. My connections with Brothers and alumni had directly led me to two of three of my college internships, one of which was my dream job of building and launching spacecrafts with SpaceX. ese internships led me to getting a full-time job at SpaceX, which I have been aspiring to for many years. All the while throughout my four years in Epsilon Chapter, I was having the time of my life with my Brothers, whom I have gotten to know and consider friends and family for life. I couldn't be more thankful to eta Chi for all it has done for me. From being a haven from the struggles of my undergraduate and graduate degrees to a place where I could excel amongst overachievers—and ultimately the reason why I landed at my dream job—Epsilon Chapter of eta Chi made more of an impact on me than my alma mater or any experience prior. My one piece of parting advice to active Brothers is as straightforward as it is fruitful: become close with your fellow Brothers, lean on them, help them out when they need you most, and do your utmost to enjoy your brief four years with them. You will be rewarded with memories and success for the remainder of your years on this Earth. Fraternally, Alec Mitkov '21 Lifelong Memories and Lessons Epsilon Chapter Sweetheart Nicole Garay '22 Reminisces on Her Time with Theta Chi T hroughout my years at WPI, I managed to form great relationships with the eta Chi Brothers. I am so fortunate and grateful to have been exposed to such a humble, funny, and diverse group of people. You will find a helping hand or someone to chat with in any room of the house. My experiences at the house are ones I'll look back to and laugh about (or cry because I'll miss them). Learning I was a sweetheart was a rollercoaster of emotions; at first, I was scared, then excited. I thought about all the great memories I've had with the Brothers—moments I'll never forget. Although I'm going to miss the house, I'm taking with me the memories from probably the most lesson- worthy years of my life. I learned more about myself by learning from others I met at the house, and I hope the feeling was reciprocated. I'm excited to see where we all end up, and I wish the best to everyone. Alumni Provide Career Mentorship to Undergraduates W e held our Career Night this past semester; many alumni from throughout the history of Epsilon Chapter came to the house to give active Brothers some tips and advice on getting internships and jobs. Afterward, alumni met one-on-one with the actives to help critique their résumés and give them more personal advice on their intended field. It was great to see alumni enlighten the undergraduates with their experience in their respective careers. WELCOME, KAPPA PI CHAPTER Theta Chi Opens at Boston University P lease join me in welcoming the newest Chapter of eta Chi, recently installed at Boston University. On May 7, I was honored to participate in the initiation ceremony for 37 new Brothers and the Chapter installation ceremony for Kappa Pi Chapter of eta Chi. is new addition to our region is the first in many years. In your Boston-area travels, please support the new Chapter and our new fellow Brothers! Fraternally, James Melvin '85 Epsilon Chapter
