alumni.oxepsilon.org DOG DAY AT THETA CHI Our New Fa vorite Tr adition T his year, Epsilon Chapter threw our first post-COVID-19 event called Dog Day; it was a blast, and we had excellent attendance with about a dozen canine participants eager to show off their abilities. e events for the competition included an obstacle course and talent show and ended with a race in Institute Park. Dog Day was a hit, and there was a buzz about it across campus and online in the following days. Fraternally, Chris Langevin '24 Interim Chapter Vice President Brothers Gather for a Game of Texas Hold 'em JOIN US NEXT YEAR TO SUPPORT USO T his year, the annual poker tournament was held on April 10—eta Chi's Founders' Day. Our Texas Hold 'em tournament, complete with tables, chips, rebuys, and burgers for dinner, benefited the United Service Organization, the fraternity's charity. e long-anticipated event consisted of alumni and undergraduates battling to get their names honored on the winner's plaque. e victorious Brother was Sean O'Hearn '96, with Jim Melvin '85 coming in at a close second place. In the end, we successfully raised $260 for USO. We look forward to having as many alumni as possible come show off their skills and teach some of the undergraduates some real poker skills at future games. Join us next year to have a laugh with your fellow Brothers and to give to a great cause! Fraternally, Ariel Velasquez '24 Alumni Relations Chairman PROVIDING A FRESH PERSPECTIVE Devin Guerrera '22 Joins EBA Board L eading up to my graduation last May and counting the days I had left, I quickly took a step back and realized how truly special Epsilon Chapter of eta Chi Fraternity is and how much it has given me. From the professional opportunities presented to me to the great experiences I was able to share with my Brothers, and much more, Epsilon taught me many valuable lessons that I will carry with me each day. I am confident many of my fellow Brothers feel the same way I do in that eta Chi changed us in ways we could not imagine—and all for the best. Repaying this debt is no easy task, but I felt there to be some way I can give back to the home so many of us cherish. is sparked my interest in playing a role in the Epsilon Building Association. roughout the past years, the EBA has made great strides in maintaining the Chapter House and keeping a strong connection between alumni and the active members. I found interest in helping continually improve these areas and, hopefully, bringing new ideas to the group. As I transition into my role as secretary of EBA as a recent graduate, I hope to bring to the table a fresh perspective of the current state of the Chapter and its operations. Some of my goals include increasing engagement from alumni with EBA as well as with the Chapter Advisory Board, ensuring continuity of decadeslong traditions and, overall, that future active members of the Chapter can get the same, unique experience that I had. Fraternally, Devin Guerrera '22 EBA Secretary Sean O'Hearn '96 (left) and Jim Melvin '85 enjoy a great game of Texas Hold 'em.
