C O M M U N I T Y PA R T N E R S P O T L I G H T Communication plays a key role in making centers like the National Child Advocacy Center (NCAC) and Child Advocacy Center (CAC) of Rutherford work. Unfortunately, when COVID made its appearance, it brought a lot of radio silence to the NCAC in Madison County and the CAC serving Rutherford and Cannon counties in Tennessee. ose centers are now excited to again be a part of the conversation and thank their supporters and community partners for helping to keep them "top of mind" during those times. Child abuse reporting may have dropped during the early stages of the pandemic, but both centers still found ways to serve their communities. e Madison County center pivoted to telehealth and medical exams via iPads provided by the center; Rutherford utilized their Drug Endangered, Darkness to Light, and Child Abuse and Child Sexual Abuse programs to start the healing journey. "Hope Starts Here" are words the NCAC team lives by. Since 1985, it has sought to serve children who have been abused, inform the public so that abuse can be spotted and stopped, and provide healing and treatment for the families. Cynthia Parker, Development Director at NCAC, said the team works to make sure the abuse is not a "defining point in the child's life". Both centers are beacons of hope. Sharon De Boer, director of the Rutherford County center, said they want everyone to be an advocate for children. One of Redstone's guiding principles is to be a catalyst for positive change in its communities. Supporting these centers is one way it does that. Redstone's support has come in the form of annual contributions, special campaigns, and participating in volunteer and special events. Money raised goes toward programs that specifically benefit the child and assist in getting the abuser off the streets. Get involved by keeping the conversation alive.
