Contactless payments and online shopping over the past two years of the pandemic have led to a shortage of coins in circulation. e shortage affects retailers' ability to make change for cash purposes. Shoppers are asked to reach between those couch cushions and shake those piggy banks to get more coins moving in the economy once again. According to credit union industry groups, the consequences of a coin circulation slowdown fall hardest on consumers that do not have the ability to pay electronically. If retailers are not able to offer change for cash purchases, consumers who rely on cash will be vulnerable. To help combat the coin circulation problem, here are some tips: Start spending your coins. Redeem your coins at kiosks in each Redstone branch. When using Redstone's Coin Change machines, you will no longer have to visit the teller to make a Scan Coin deposit. e machines will make deposits directly into the checking or savings account of your choice by using your debit card or member number. A 4% fee is charged for Coin Change transactions, except for members with a Star Club account. C O N T I N U E D F R O M PA G E 5 Alabama and Tennessee fall within the Dixie Alley. Cousin to the infamous Tornado Alley, this area's name was coined in 1971 by Allen Pearson, a Storm Prediction Center director. Although not as active as Tornado Alley, Dixie Alley's tornadoes are considered deadlier because of the high-density population in the region. Do You Qualify? For your shelter to be eligible, you must meet certain qualifications: 1. Shelter must be installed on/ after January 1, 2022, and must have a design capable of withstanding an E5 tornado. 2. Shelter must be placed on taxpayer's primary residence, where no other storm shelter previously existed. 3. Meets or exceeds FEMA's minimum criteria for design, construction, and operation of residential safe rooms. Although Tennessee also falls within Dixie Alley, it currently does not have a shelter tax credit.
