Chapter Officers T H E L Y R E L E T T E R | P A G E 2 O ne of the core requirements for membership in Alpha Chi Omega is academic excellence. Pursuing and completing a degree at UNL is a big accomplishment that requires persistence, self-discipline, and grit. The Alpha Chi Omega Education Foundation of Xi Chapter strives to support our young women as they work toward their college degrees by providing scholarships and other kinds of support. This year, we honored Alpha Chis who have demonstrated strong academic achievement, including women with high GPAs, remarkable academic improvement, and academic excellence while serving as leaders across campus. This recognition ceremony took place during a special brunch as part of AXO Mom's Weekend. Various achievements were presented and celebrated since these women serve as role models for other Alpha Chis. Over 75 women achieved a 3.5 GPA for the semester, earning them the status of Alpha Chi Honor Member. Of these women, 16 achieved a 4.0 GPA (see the list on page 4). They understand the hard work and discipline it takes to earn high marks, and they will be able to help their sorority sisters through their leadership and example. We will also be supporting several Alpha Chis as they attend national convention this summer, which allows these women the opportunity to understand the bigger enterprise in which they participate—as scholars and as leaders. Other ways we support Alpha Chi academic excellence include maintaining and upgrading study areas, supporting the vice president of intellectual development in her duties, and emphasizing academic excellence throughout the year. The Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, which means your donations are tax-deductible. Each year, we provide $3,000-$5,000 in support of the chapter. Your donations to the Ed Foundation make a difference in the scholarships and other forms of support we can provide our Alpha Chi women as they pursue their degrees.
