Dickard Jr. '54 passed away on June 1, 2021. Along with SigEp, Paul was a member of Phi Delta Phi. He served as a captain in the Air Force and worked as a landman at Humble Oil. He later began a career in insurance. He was named Title Man of the Year by the Texas Land Title Association. In 2000, Paul retired to Colorado. Walter E. Hale '54 passed away on January 11, 2022. He graduated from the University of Texas with a BBA degree. During the Korean War, he was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. He ended his military career as a first lieutenant in 1957. In August of 1957, he joined the Shell Oil Company and retired in 1987. In 2000, Walter published a history of the Hale and Brevard families, which is treasured in his family. Walter was a devoted father, grandfather, and husband. A devoted Longhorn, he enjoyed attending football games with his friends. Walter A. Saunders Jr. '58 passed away on April 25, 2021. Walter studied accounting at UT and served as football manager of the Texas Longhorns throughout his collegiate career. Walter served as chaplain of SigEp, which is how he met his future wife, Mary. Aside from his time in the fraternity, he also belonged to the Friar Society, Silver Spurs, and Beta Sigma Gamma. Walter served in the Air Force ROTC, and after his marriage, he began a career in the Air Force. He and his family later moved to Austin, where he began his career at KPMG. Walter passed his CPA exam in 1963 and enjoyed working until retiring in 2000. Walter was a member of many organizations, including the Houston Club, American Institutes of CPAs, Certified Texas Public Accountants, and many others. He supported UT as a Life member of Texas Exes and the Longhorn Foundation. Bailey C. Moseley '69 passed away on September 13, 2021. After graduating from the University of Texas, he attended law school at the University of Houston. Bailey had a passion for serving others and was active in many organizations, including as a member of Cypress Valley Bible Church and founder of Marshall Soccer Association. He was also a member of the Charter Revision Commission and served as a trustee of Marshall's Public Library Board and as a commissioner of the Cypress Valley Navigation District. Bailey was a small-town lawyer and a partner with his brother, Sam, and enjoyed his work. He was elected as a justice to Texas' 6th Court of Appeals and served the 19-county district for many years up until his retirement. While Bailey loved the law, he also loved his family and loved spending time with them. John R. Irish '82 passed away on January 16, 2022. John attended the University of Houston, where he helped to recharter the Texas Delta Chapter of SigEp and became its first president in 1984. John spent his career in athletic and event production and enjoyed volunteering for the Bluebonnet Bowl. He worked for the Harris County Houston Sports Authority before moving along to serve as a venue operations and transportation manager for multiple Olympic committees. He also worked in logistics coordination for other events, including the Super Bowl, the NCAA Final Four, The Ryder Cup, and more. John enjoyed doing genealogical research on his family. He also enjoyed spending time on the water at Galveston Bay. Jeffrey L. Foster '85 passed away on October 28, 2021. Jeffrey worked in the semiconductor industry for 30 years at Technical Marketing Inc. An excellent salesman, he was a favorite among customers. In 2016, he pursued his passion for shooting sports and founded Apex Shooting. Aside from enjoying his favorite hobby, Jeff was always there to help others. He served on boards, including as president of the Texas Sporting Clays Association as well as president of Capitol City Trap and Skeet Gun Club. He was inducted into the TSCA Hall of Fame in 2019. Michael R. Adams '87 passed away on October 16, 2021. Michael graduated from UT with a degree in economics. He began his professional career in banking at First Interstate Bank in 1988 before he moved on to work for Southwest Bank of Texas, now Amegy Bank, in 1992. He moved up through the ranks and eventually became a senior commercial lending manager. In 2013, he became market president of Frost Bank. With more than 25 years of banking experience, Michael was trusted by customers. In Memoriam A t Texas Alpha Chapter, we strive to recruit high-quality young men that will effectively represent our chapter. We have always done a great job of recruiting well- rounded individuals who take pride in their involvement in this chapter. Recruitment is important for continuing the success of Texas Alpha, and it could not be done without the help of our alumni group and active members.
