OUR NEED FOR ACTION T he Gamma Upsilon Alumni Corporation has engaged Pennington & Company on a preliminary basis to help us evaluate our likelihood of initiating a $1.7 million campaign with alumni support. Having ample experience in the execution of campaigns both at Bradley and across the nation, Pennington has led more than 300 major campaigns and raised over $800 million in support of Greek life. With such a pivotal decision, we must take seriously the responsibility we all hold in defining the future of our fraternity. Competing in a Changing Environment College campus living has changed significantly, even within the last 10 to 15 years. The experience is wholly different than what most of our alumni will remember. Residential facilities are the second-most important factor in the college decision-making process behind the availability of a student's intended major. This is understandable, considering students spend 70% of their time within their living environment. To remain competitive, we must offer an updated and modern facility. Providing Space and Safety for Our Brothers The safety of our collegiate members is of utmost importance to the alumni corporation. We must offer a structurally sound and safe home for our collegians. Much like our personal homes, our chapter house must be a haven that instills confidence in our undergraduate members and their parents. While improvements have been made over the years, now is the time to renovate and restore our home on a larger scale. Pursuing Excellence While the classroom experience is critical, the development of friendship, leadership, and social skills are built within the chapter house walls. We know it is critical for Theta Chi to improve our footing to remain on par with our peer organizations. If we remain stagnant, we will lose potential new members to other houses. With significant investments being made in on-campus facilities, our peer fraternities have seen the need to mirror the university by investing in their programming, facilities, and alumni relations. The following fraternities have made or are in the process of making major improvements to their chapter houses: Theta Xi, Sigma Nu, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Phi Kappa Tau. 3 Housing Renovations in Greek Life Theta Xi Phi Kappa Tau Sigma Nu
