Oklahoma Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi at Oklahoma State University | Spring 2022

T
he fraternity and sorority experience
is a vital part of campus life, perhaps
now more than ever. Membership in a
fraternal organization is an irreplaceable
experience, providing members with—
among the many opportunities other
students may not receive—leadership
skills, lifelong friendships and new, unique
experiences.
The importance of fraternity/sorority life
continues to grow. Members find that they
will always have a community to rely on
and friends forever. Research shows how
members benefit from the experience:
• Fraternity and sorority students
report positive health scores and
lower levels of depression and
anxiety compared to other
students. (Biddix, Assalone and
Grace 2020)
• Fraternity and sorority members
show greater overall involvement
and engagement on campus and in
the classroom. (Pike 2020)
With the many benefits associated with
fraternity and sorority membership,
we want to continue to prioritize our
members and their well-being. One way
to do this is by ensuring the chapter
house meets their needs. As our sisters
continue to grow both personally and
professionally, we need to make sure
they can thrive in our home. Our chapter
STAYING COMPETITIVE AT OSU
Oklahoma Beta Looks to the Future
house is falling behind. We need to
change that.
Fraternity and sorority life is flourishing
at Oklahoma State University! In the last
five years, several sororities at OSU have
renovated or completely rebuilt their
homes, and others are planning to do the
same. The future is bright for Pi Phi, and
in order to maintain our competitive edge,
we need to update our home. A modern
and safe living environment will enhance
the university environment for our sisters
and provide more opportunities to grow.
While this is just the beginning, we are
planning for the long term; as our plans
are finalized, you'll be the first to know.
If you want more information, please
don't hesitate to reach out to me. We look
forward to the future of Oklahoma Beta!
