10 • 2022 Dogwood Festival "This is going to be such a fun event to add to our festival," exclaimed Lindsey Taylor, Dogwood Festival Coordinator. "A dog race at the Dogwood Festival! We are also very excited to partner with two wonderful non-profits and support their efforts through a fun event." That's right, it going to be "wiener takes all" as these four- legged friends hit the track and race for the finish line. If you are a dog lover, you won't want to miss out on the fun. If you have a dachshund, you won't want to miss the opportunity to participate in the 1st Annual Dogwood Doxy Relay, held in Bob Henry Park on Saturday afternoon, April 23. The event is sponsored by Victory's Service Dog Ranch and proceeds will benefit Tailwaggers NWA. Victory's Service Dog Ranch (VSDR) works with disabled veterans, first responders and children in the community with disabilities to help them gain an improved quality of life through the partnership of a loving service dog. "We're all about saving lives and providing second chances," said Michael Henry who serves on the board of directors and is Chief Marketing Officer for Victory's Service Dog Ranch. "This means being able to provide an affordable service dog without having to sacrifice high quality training. As a registered 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, we have worked hard to provide the best training that our members need at low cost - thanks to the generous donations of others." The idea for the race was suggested to Victory's Service Dog Ranch by Colby Hatfield. "He reached out to us on Facebook and asked us to sponsor the race," Michael said. "We decided since the ranch was going to sponsor it we should have another worthy organization be the recipient of the donations. We agreed that Tailwaggers NWA would be the perfect choice."
