THETA CHI PAGE 3 A ny level of college can be a scary time for students, but alumni offering advice can make a big difference in a collegian's academic success. Paul Bikowitz '12 joined Theta Chi after a great recruitment experience; his time in Tau Chapter provided a stable group of friends and an important role in his career path. After completing his MBA, Paul has taken the time to speak with undergraduate students on a similar career path. "There have been a few guys reaching out to me to understand a little bit more about business school, how the interviewer and admissions process works, and areas of their application where I may be able to help them improve." Paul's guidance will hopefully be that extra boost of confidence and understanding that will help these undergraduates reach their goals in school and beyond. Since he was young, Paul wanted to follow in his father's footsteps in the business world. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Florida and worked his way to a master's degree in business administration at the Kellogg School of Management. "It wasn't too difficult changing environments from where I was in Atlanta to Chicago for business school. Interacting with the diverse membership of the fraternity prepared me to interact with people in both work and back in school who have different aspirations, goals, and personalities." Paul became treasurer for Tau Chapter during his undergraduate years. "It was a goal of mine when I started in the fraternity," he said. "It helped me gain a better understanding of how the finances of an organization work, how to conduct meetings, and even how to manage and deal with people who weren't always happy with some of the decisions that had to be made." To this day, Paul keeps up with Theta Chi brothers. "One of the things I miss most is the proximity to friends. It was so easy to go down the hall and pop into someone's room to just hang out for hours. Now, I've been in weddings for a few of them, and some of them will be in mine," he shared. "Later this year, I'm planning a golf trip with a number of them. During COVID, I went down and spent three months at a buddy's house because … why not? Experiences like this have continued to make Tau fun and worthwhile." When he's not working hard in his business ventures, Paul enjoys rock climbing, cooking, and golfing.
