Queen's Crown — This beautiful new home is perched high up on Queen's Street, thus giving it the project name of "Queen's Crown." The concept was to be a modern twist on classic luxury, integrating historic glamour with new design trends. This new build was truly a union of expertise, as the client was also the general contractor. She encouraged the designers to challenge her team with more complicated products and installations to ensure the result was one-of-a-kind. The wood floor was intricately laid in a herringbone pattern and the marble floors in the secret mudroom and fry kitchen were laid in a diamond checkerboard pattern. Although the space was large, it had to incorporate a mudroom and fully working fry kitchen. Taking inspiration from hotel lobbies with lavish paneled walls and ceiling details, the designers used floor-to-ceiling dark blue cabinetry that hid all the appliances and island cabinetry with gold inlay. This allowed the glamourous gold hood fan to be the showstopper. The team designed a kitchen with ample storage and large surface areas for prep and food platters. Understanding cultural preferences, the clients wanted to have a separate fry kitchen for all the main cooking. The designers created a secret door, making the bright-white fry kitchen completely unexpected when the cabinet door is opened. Cobble Hill Kitchen — The main objective was to create a bold kitchen that would make a dramatic statement to potential buyers. The developer wanted to sell this condominium for $4M, and due to the kitchen redesign, it sold for $4.5M. The kitchen was to be loaded with accessories and ample storage; the design style was to be transitional, and one-of-a-kind. The upper cabinet usage was reduced due to the requested celing-high stone full backsplash, so the lost cabinet storage was replaced with open shelves. The island added additional storage on its sides and rear. An inset cabinet was used with a slab door embedded in a beveled inner bead on the frame's stiles and rails. Interior luxury solutions included Fineline™ walnut drawer inserts; a pull-out tray system adjacent to the range, with a mix of white/chrome Arena & walnut Fineline™ trays for cooking oils and spices, and a single door pull-out with internal roll-outs, spaced to fit assorted cookware; a recycling pull-out center; a tilt-out tray for washing accessories in the sink zone, and a stainless steel sink mat; a built-in chef pantry, with adjustable interior walnut roll-outs. To provide ample refrigeration space for the large duplex condominium, a Sub-Zero column-type refrigerator and column-type freezer were installed.
