Monuments of Distinction 704-481-1198 www.riverhillmonuments.com Family Owned & Operated Since 1957 ©Community First Media Community First Media According to the American English D i c t i o n a r y , "leaving your mark" refers to having an infl uence which changes someone or something. Throughout our lifetime we have been inspired by those who have "left their mark." Our lives are affected by those around us each day. Parents, grandparents, siblings, teachers, friends and even short-term acquaintances have changed or shaped our lives in some way or fashion. Even those whom we have never met, such as historical fi gures and inventors have impacted our lives. For example, every time we walk into a dark room and turn on a light, we are infl uenced by the one who invented the light bulb, Thomas Edison. He left a lasting mark on all of humanity. While we may never be an Edison, we are all capable of leaving our own mark in this world. The way we live our lives and treat others will determine the kind of mark we leave. People who work hard, are faithful to their responsibilities, unselfi sh and are kind to others will leave a positive impression on those around them. Most of the time "leaving your mark," is not about doing one big thing, but is the sum of all the little things we do. Soon we will pass from this world and "our mark" will be what others will remember. We all will leave a mark one way or another. We should be thankful for those who have had a good infl uence on us and then in turn be challenged to leave a positive mark on others as well. What kind of mark are you leaving?
