Denise was born November 4, 1950 in Manhattan, New York to the late Herbert S. Hysler and Tillie Guttenplan Hysler. She worked as a human resourc- es manager for 17 years for New York City and as a pay- roll clerk for Buel Trucking in Chesnee. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In addition to her par- ents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Richard Conway; a sister, Geri Hysler and broth- er, Billy Hysler. Left to cherish fond memories are sons, Anthony P. Corujo (Alicia) and Joseph H. Conway III (Amber) all of Shelby; daughter, Elisa Ruiz (Isaac) of Florida; thirteen grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held February 19, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Father Herbert Burke, Deacon Andy Cilone and Deacon David Faunce offi- ciating. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family. Roy Vance Roy Vance of Rutherfordton, passed away February 17, 2022. He was dedicated to the textile business from which Roy retired at age 62. Roy is survived by his wife Deborah Vance and immediate family member John Cronk. Roy has three children and a large extend- ed family in the county. Services for Roy will be announced at a later date. Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Obituaries Conserving Carolina and Blue Ridge Humane Society are excited to announce an upcoming Tails and Trails event. This will be a week- long virtual event taking place April 18-24 with different hiking options to choose from. There are three hike options: Bearwallow Mountain any segment of the Oklawaha Greenway between Jackson Park and Berkeley Mills Park, and the perimeter trail of the Park at Flat Rock. Bearwallow Mountain is a 2-mile round trip hike with a grassy meadow at its summit, featuring a panoramic view that includes the Blue Ridge Mountains, a birds-eye view of Hickory Nut Gorge, downtown Hendersonville, and the high country of South Carolina. The Oklawaha Greenway features a creekside path winding through wetlands, meadows, and forests to connect four different parks in our community. The trail is 3.5 miles total, but you only need to hike a segment of this path. The Park at Flat Rock features a 1.5-mile perimeter trail surrounding the 68-acre park fi lled with natural beauty and wildlife. Complete one or all of the hikes and explore the work of Conserving Carolina in the community with furry (or human) friends. Proceeds support Conserving Carolina's efforts to protect the places people love and the programs of Blue Ridge Humane Society that provide new homes for pets in need, support services for local pets and their owners, and more.
