NEWS Big Red Island Big Red Island Beta Theta Pi at Oklahoma State University / Spring 2022 AN EXCITING FALL 2021 SEMESTER AT THE BETA HOUSE AND OUR UNIVERSITY W ow! We saw the first semester of this academic year unfold as somewhat "normal-ish" Greek and campus life. A full university calendar helped bring back the college experience at Oklahoma State. And there is nothing like the fall football season, which brings excitement into college life! Thousands of brighter orange shirts were in Stillwater and tailgates and tents were scattered throughout the campus on home football game weekends. A large turnout for Dad's Day weekend at the Beta house (see picture on page 3) was followed by "America's Greatest Homecoming" celebration weekend in October. This centennial included the Friday night traditional Walkaround, the Saturday Sea of Orange parade, and house decorations throughout the Greek community. The Chi Omega sorority teamed with Beta to construct the outstanding house decoration shown above and on page 6. This decoration activity provides bonding time for brothers and creates opportunities to meet sorority members. Beta's Big Red Island Athletic Corp (BRIAC) basketball court was the site of this year's Hoops Remix on Friday evening. Oklahoma State men's and women's basketball teams hosted the event. Both basketball squads were introduced, and spirit squads were out in full force (see pages 7 and 8). This event is an important recruiting activity for the basketball program to bring in top prospects for OSU basketball. Hoops Remix was a nice finish at the Beta house for the fun-filled and festive Walkaround evening. On page 2, read the President's report from David Buskirk '23 on the achievements at the chapter house. The outstanding academic success continues to make us all proud of Beta Theta Pi at OSU. Also, read about the return of Freshman Follies and our pairing with the Kappa Delta sorority. Again, this show is another great getting-to-know each other opportunity. In addition, take note of all the first-place awards and pictures on page 3. We captured snapshots of brothers with low roll numbers and high roll numbers engaged in retreats and celebration activities; these pictures are also included in this issue of the newsletter. If you haven't seen our new home at 1207, you should plan a trip to Stillwater! If you haven't visited our campus in recent years, then you should carve out some time to see the new buildings and the very noticeable enhancements to our university grounds and facilities. Also, there are many new and rebuilt fraternity and sorority houses that have been recently completed, and other Greek sites are under construction. You will be amazed at the beautiful campus transformation that has taken place in recent years. Read, look, enjoy! Sincerely and yours in __kai__, Greg Colpitts '88 Larry Maguire '65
