2 Beta Theta Pi LEADERSHIP, EXCELLENCE, AND AWARDS ABOUND T he men of Beta Theta Pi are looking stronger than ever. It is once again a proud time to be a Gamma Lambda Beta, as the house continues its standard of excellence in all arenas. Beta Theta Pi remains the largest house on campus with what will be 168 initiated undergraduates before the conclusion of the spring 2022 semester. The growing size of our fraternity is not a consequence of half-hearted recruitment; rather, it is due to the growing attractiveness of Beta's ability to consistently produce men of principle that influence those around them and lead well in organizations found across the Oklahoma State campus and beyond. The chapter once again excelled academically this fall as 52 outstanding 4.0 GPAs were recorded. That is over 30 percent of the house achieving a 4.0 GPA amidst a semester faced with the business of Homecoming preparation and the challenges of online and hybrid learning. The IFC GPA in the fall was 3.23. The Beta house pledges topped the IFC average by achieving a 3.57 GPA, which earned a second overall ranking only to FarmHouse by .03. We are especially proud of having initiated 44 highly motivated pledges at the beginning of the spring 2022 semester. Many of these new initiates are ready to put their passion for Beta to work as leaders in chapter house activities. The Gamma Lambda Chapter also thinks extremely highly of its Alpha Pi spring pledge class of eight, who will hopefully be initiated near the beginning of this coming fall semester. Greek shows were once again a high point for Beta in the fall, as the men of Beta Theta Pi and the women of Kappa Delta finished first overall in Freshman Follies. Our house continued to add trophies to its shelves as the cast effectively swept the stage, receiving additional awards for best choreography, best vocals, cheesiest cast, and kid's choice. In addition, we are thoroughly looking forward to beginning the recruitment process this summer under the leadership of our recruitment chairman, Ryan Hoffman '23. Under his guidance, the recruitment team will be selecting outstanding young men that they believe will fit in the culture of our strong fraternity in the OSU Greek community. A special thanks to all our alumni that volunteer their homes and finances to help us in our vital recruiting process. In closing, I would like to take a moment on behalf of the Gamma Lambda active brothers to express our gratitude to the faithful alumni of our chapter. We thank you for the active role that many of you have played in recent years to propel us to new heights. In keeping with the historical legacy of achievements, please rest assured that your chapter brothers are striving to follow in your footsteps by keeping Beta distinguished from all other fraternities.
