Winter 2022
ALPHA OMEGAN
THE
T
hanks to our reliable members and loyal
alumni, we are fortunate to say that
Alpha Omega Chapter is in outstanding
shape financially. Former Exchequer Max
Farfante '18 and Worthy Master Jay
McArthur '18 have done well in emphasizing
the financial responsibilities of being a Brother.
Our 211 active members continue to pay their
dues; due to their reliability and service, the
Chapter collected nearly 100% of all dues
and rent. Added pledges and active Brothers
have allowed Alpha Omega to achieve a social
budget in excess of $80,000.
In the summer, we painted most of the
exterior of the Mansion, installed a French
drain, trimmed the trees, and pressure washed
the Mansion. Over the past couple years,
we resurfaced the whole parking lot. It was
certainly a big project, but the Mansion looks in
top-tier shape!
As far as the interior of the Mansion goes, we
are managing. Our members are not particularly
known for their neatness nor cleanliness, so we
are grateful for the work of our housemother,
Molly McCann. Molly does a great job keeping
the house in good shape, and we are indebted
to her! When you are by the Mansion, give a
quick thank-you to Molly; I'm sure it would be
greatly appreciated.
An ongoing problem we are running into is the
intermittent flooding in the basement. We had
numerous companies give us costly ideas, but
no one provided a precise solution to fixing
the problem. After speaking with Brother
Michael Underwood '79, we are going to
start with a water table/soil sampling. Any
ideas from professionals who are Brothers or
friends of Brothers who can help us with this
problem would be appreciated. Your expertise is
invaluable!
Ultimately, ATΩ is doing well. We had a
successful year despite navigating the pandemic
and following safety protocols. Our Brothers
have shown true resilience and strength, as
always.
Fraternally,
Mike McVeigh '75
