5 Beta Tau W hile Rosanne Ginter Dunkelberger '77 had three brothers, she always longed for the experience of having a sister. As a first-generation college student, she knew nothing about sorority life, but that changed her sophomore year when she saw that Sigma Kappa was recolonizing. "Intrigued, I went to a party and learned that I could immediately become active in the sorority, move into the house, and hold a leadership position," Rosanne said. "I was initiated and became President of Beta Tau in the same day." Sigma Kappa serves as a special bond for Rosanne, and she remains active within the sisterhood. She participated in the alumnae chapter in Lakeland, where she learned how to propagate violets. She was also an advisor for the Omega Chapter at Florida State University. "Most recently, I returned to the spectacular new Beta Tau house and connected with women from throughout the years the chapter has been on campus and the current sisters," Rosanne said. Initiation will always hold a special place in Rosanne's heart. She had no idea what to expect and relishes that memory, along with the ceremonies she participated in as a chapter member. She recently enjoyed seeing her daughter's friend be initiated. Rosanne is an editing/writing consultant, which works out perfectly for her! She was diagnosed with ADD as an adult and has always been curious about people and things. With this job, she can explore what interests her and then move on to the next thing. "I've met so many people and learned so much about many different things over the years," Rosanne said. "Life is so interesting, and I get paid to nose around and find stuff out." Over the years, Rosanne has held multiple jobs, but she was most proud of her position as editor of Tallahassee Magazine, an award-winning lifestyle publication. "It was a very hands-on position; I did my fair share of writing, but I most enjoyed cooking up story ideas, assigning them out, and seeing them come to fruition," she said. In 2020, Rosanne went from zero to two grandchildren. Her grandson, Roderick, was born in Boston, and her granddaughter, Vivian, was born in Tallahassee. While Rosanne hasn't been able to see Roderick as often because of COVID-19, they are both the lights of her life. Rosanne and her husband, Lloyd, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. He is happily retired while Rosanne happily picks up "joblets" when she has time off from being a grandmother. Rosanne has been scrapbooking for more than 25 years and has made more than 45 books. She has also enjoyed wrapping Christmas presents for family and friends since she was a teenager. "This year I took an online class in bow making and really upped my wrapping game," she said.
