private sector, a lot of my work involved
cleaning up contracts. I'm all about
making order out of chaos, so the idea
of a messy art project was not my idea
of fun," he recalled. "I sat there for the
longest time just staring at the canvas.
I didn't know what to do. One person
in my group completely painted over
their painting and started over." Zane
describes his final painting as "messy in
the beginning, but organized at the end,"
and admits that afterwards he thought it
was a "pretty neat exercise."
The Chamber's creative director,
Brianna Hunter, recalled that Steve
actually mentioned the art project in her
interview, but since she enjoys painting
she was kind of looking forward to it.
"Then I saw how big the canvas was. I
got a little worried," she laughs. "It was
really kind of calming," she says of the
experience with her group of new co-
workers. "We all talked about stuff that
wasn't work-related. It was kind of fun."
Steve says his own painting
represents the Fayetteville Chamber.
"It's a little chaotic. It's a place where
everything comes together, and falls
apart. Nothing is ever the same."
