T he Gamma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega holds a certain prestige that attracted Spencer Bohlander '13 during his time as an undergraduate. "The idea of being a part of a group that has such a long history is what truly drew me to Greek life," Spencer said. Since joining, Gamma Gamma has provided an opportunity to establish meaningful, lifelong friendships for Spencer. Not a day goes by that he isn't grateful for his time as an active brother. However, he has noticed that the chapter house has weathered over time and recognizes the urgency of helping the chapter, which is why he donated to the capital campaign. "It has become apparent that the quality of the house is directly affecting recruitment rates and pledge class sizes," Spencer said. Donating to Alpha Tau Omega is a way for Spencer to give back. He takes pride in his donations and participation when he takes his child back to Homecoming. "This is what we signed up for, to take when we need and give when we can," Spencer said. "There are very few instances in giving back where you can actually see the result of where the funds are allocated. Our more experienced alumni have done a wonderful job in the organization of this endeavor, and it feels fantastic, personally, to be able to contribute to something I can see and touch." Spencer relocated from Indiana to Houston, Texas, where he works at the Apache Corporation as a drilling engineer and project manager. "We drill deep, lateral wellbores in North America and exploratory deep-water wells in Suriname and the North Sea," Spencer shares. "At the end of the year, I'm leaving the company to run a new geothermal company we started, called Icarus Energy. Come visit us at www.icarus.how to see how we're leveraging technology to create the future of geothermal energy." Outside of his professional endevours, he will also celebrate a second child in May 2022 with his wife, Jennifer. Their first, Ashton, who was born in April 2020, started running a few months ago and is full of energy. For Spencer, his personal hobbies include all things racing—particularly Formula 1. "I also enjoy rebuilding things," Spencer said. "Jennifer and I had a 1995 Jeep Wrangler we just rebuilt and sold. We're currently rebuilding a 1985 BMW K100 motorcycle. We also love to travel; Thailand and Iceland are two of our favorite places to visit." You can connect with Spencer at spencer.bohlander@gmail.com. Brothers Helping Brothers Why Spencer Bohlander '13 Chose to Give Back B eing a member of a fraternity not only brings the opportunity to create lasting memories and great friendships, but it also strengthens those bonds. Jack Fenoglio '59 felt an instant connection with his fellow Alpha Tau Omega brothers and pledges, and he knew this was the fraternity for him. Jack looks back fondly on his ΑΤΩ memories, including vacations with brothers and their families for many years after graduation. He also enjoys attending reunions and Homecomings. With many great memories and a sense of connection within the brotherhood, Jack wanted to give back to Gamma Gamma and proudly supports the Building on Ron Reeves' Legacy Campaign. "I wanted to support the campaign to keep the house in good condition after being involved with the initial building of it," Jack shared. "Having a house for brothers while in school is a very competitive aspect, and without a desirable house, the chapter will go downhill in numbers and influence on campus." Jack also supports Gamma Gamma in another way—he crafted the letters and cross on the chapter house itself. "The house I lived in while at Rose had a large wooden, lighted cross on the front of the house that disappeared when we moved out," Jack said. "I knew this added to the appearance of the house. When I saw the picture of the proposed building, I looked for and couldn't find anyone who could supply the cross, so I looked further and found materials to make it myself." Jack made the letters while he was working at an aluminum rolling mill in Terre Haute—a job he had for 30 years before he left to be a part of a startup company, Specialty Blanks, to produce aluminum blanks. ΑΤΩ will always be a part of Jack's family, as his wife has many friends whose husbands are also a part of the fraternity. His son joined ΑΤΩ at Indiana University and remembers walking through the partially completed house at Rose as a young child. In his free time, Jack enjoys canoeing, gardening, woodworking (and with alumi- num), and singing with the Italian singers at the Little Italy Festival in Clinton.
