Anchored In page 2 B eta Kappa Chapter has had a lasting impact on Rachel Cannon '90. She knew it was the place for her, as she met the women in the sorority and was excited at the idea of being friends. Undergraduate years were a blast with her sisters. Her favorite memories include living in the house during her sophomore, junior, and senior years, Easter Posse, and spending time with her friends at Louise's West. The memories didn't stop after undergrad; Rachel still enjoys spending time with her Delta Gamma sisters. "Thirty years after we pledged, there are still 12 to 15 of us that get together every month for dinner, drinks, and conversations. Those dinners are always a good time, and I treasure the time I get to spend with my now lifelong friends." Aside from enjoying dinners with her sisters, Rachel stays connected to Beta Kappa in other ways. She is the advisory team chairman and absolutely loves it. There have definitely been challenges, such as the house flooding, COVID-19 protocols, and a major renovation to an old part of the house, but she enjoys helping overcome these challenges and finds it rewarding. "The women amaze me every day with their dedication to Delta Gamma, resilience, and love of life," she shares. "I sometimes wish I had a time machine to take me back to my days at the University of Kansas and Delta Gamma." Rachel relishes the opportunities she's had to work in auditing or accounting for major companies, including KMPG, General Electric Company, Sprint, and Colgate-Palmolive. Throughout her career, she has lived around the country in places like New York City and Chicago. Now calling Kansas City home, Rachel works as assistant director of accounting and financial reporting at KU Medical Center. Rachel loves being an aunt to her nieces and nephews. She has two spoiled dogs, Buddy and Lady. While she doesn't have any children of her own, she is proud to be a dog mom and advisor to Beta Kappa. "I tell everyone I have 200 'kids' at Delta Gamma in Lawrence." Rachel is a huge fan of KU basketball. She also loves to travel and is counting down the days until she can travel again.
