A guest in the infamous Hanoi Hilton known for torture and brutality, he endured, survived, and returned to Mizzou to receive his MBA. There was dead silence, and a tear or two shed, with riveted attention while brother John related personal experiences endured during six years of captivity. He unquestioningly deserves our gratitude and respect. Col. Clark's address was followed by an emotional and moving moment of silence as each of our fallen brothers were remembered, one by one. Nineteen Missouri Alpha Phis have died while on active duty protecting our country and the freedoms enjoyed therein. Hundreds more managed to avoid Chapter Grand while serving. As would be consistent with many military events, the morning ended with a three round rifle volley by American Legion Post 202 and a moving rendition of "Taps." Hanging on the west wall of the great room to the right of the shelves and to the left of the balcony doors is a photo of the 1952 Phikeia pledge class and the March 1953 initiates. Twenty-one bond numbers—1073 to 1093—are listed; only seven haven't entered Chapter Grand. Two of those remaining seven had the privilege to attend the 150th: John Hammond '56 with his wife, Barbara, and Ed Travis with his wife, Irene. We also remembered the recent loss of a very important MO Alpha, Thomas E. Atkins III '56. I also want to share a personal moment I had during this weekend. After I did to my Kappa Sig father what my Beta Theta Pi son and grandson did to me, my Theta daughter's son, Jack Travis Kavanaugh '22, is a current Phi senior who wears my sapphire and diamond pin. (After being secretly hidden during his initiation ceremonies, I snuck up from behind to surprise and present my pin to him.) We hugged and cried and became Brothers in the Bond. Yours in Bond, J.
