You will make a meaningful difference in their lives while ensuring that our chapter retains its position as a strong leader in Oregon State's Greek system. By including Alpha Lambda in your estate planning, you can play in important role in preserving our shared legacy. You can name the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha as a beneficiary on any of your financial accounts by simply filling out a beneficiary designation form from your financial institution and specifying the amount of your gi. is process is fast and simple, and it does not require an attorney to accomplish. With this simple method, there is no need to revise your will or other existing estate planning documents. Of course, you may also create your legacy through your will or trust if that is a better fit for your situation. ERNEST BEARSS ALPHA LAMBDA LEGACY SOCIETY Madge and Col. Ernest Bearss '32-231 - Junelle and Emil "Bud" Carroll '42-477 Fred Claussen '66-772* *Fred is the the newest brother to join this society. T here are certain memories, people, and organizations that can make a lasting impact on one's life. Lambda Chi Alpha is an organization that will stay with Fred Claussen '66-772 forever. Alpha Lambda entered Fred's life at a critical time. His father had passed away four years prior to Fred's freshman year at Oregon State. "Many of the older members at Alpha Lambda helped fill that emotional gap. It was great to have the house and the brothers to anchor me aer what had been a pretty tough four years." Fred fondly recalls enjoying many special times with his brothers, such as when he assembled as many brothers as possible for pre-recruitment at the Pendleton Roundup and when the chapter won the IFC Sing during Mother's Weekend in May 1969. ere was also nothing like playing football in the Mud Bowl at Chi Field across Monroe during the height of the season. e welcoming and supportive environment that Fred's brothers provided was crucial, but he also remembers the personal investment of alumni in the chapter's success. is includes the opportunity to work together with Alpha Lambda founders, including Clayton Strain 1917-1, Lynn Sabin 1917-25, and Rudy ielemann '31-221, to rebuild membership aer the new house was built. With so many wonderful memories, Fred wanted to remember the impact of Alpha Lambda on his life and pass it on to future generations. He chose to include the chapter in his estate planning and is now included in the Col. Ernest Bearrs Alpha Lambda Legacy Society. "As any one of us looks back on our lives, it is inevitable that we remember key organizations that we have been a part of and that impacted our lives," Fred said. "Alpha Lambda is right up there in the top three organizations in my life." rough his legacy gi, Fred hopes to positively affect the future of Alpha Lambda. Fred's goal for Alpha Lambda is to continue to impact the lives of young men far into a second century. Fred graduated with his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at Oregon State and earned his MBA at San Jose State University in 1994. He worked in high tech for almost 40 years, mainly at National Semiconductor. Fred worked in process and product engineering and management and served as an operations director and a business unit director. He has been happily retired for 12 years. He and his wife, Diana, have been married for 41 years and have two great children and four wonderful grandchildren (aged 5 and under). You can connect with Fred at fclausse@pacbell.net.
