NOTES FROM MIZ KΔ PAGE 3 W e were excited and eager to get back into the swing of a more normal semester, and for the first time in over a year, we had the chance gather as an entire chapter for in-person events, including recruitment, Bid Day, Homecoming, and philanthropy events. We were beyond excited to start having our social events and inviting people into our home so they can really see what sisterhood at Kappa Delta is all about! Welcoming New Sisters In August, we were able to resume in-person recruitment by welcoming 68 incredible new members into our chapter. During Spirit Week, we were broken up into six different teams led by seniors and held friendly competitions, such as chant wars, a water balloon fight, and ultimate frisbee matches. We had a wonderful time doing one of the things we love the most— spending quality time with our sisters! Then, we were able to welcome home our new members on Bid Day, where our theme was "So Fresh, So KΔ!" This year is off to a great start, and we can't wait to provide the ultimate Epsilon Iota experience to our new sisters. Kicking Off Homecoming After a year without it, we were elated to participate in Homecoming at the school that started it all! Our chapter loves Homecoming, and every year we do everything we can to give it our best. This year, we were paired with the men of Phi Kappa Psi and FarmHouse, and our theme was "Subway Surfers." To add to the fun, we placed second in the banner and the service competitions. Countless memories were made as we participated in campus decorations, the parade, and service events. It was great to see our Tigers walk away with a Homecoming win too. Homecoming 2021 was one for the books. Making a Difference Even after acknowledging the ongoing pandemic for almost two years now, we couldn't let COVID-19 stop us from getting involved in the community. After taking safety precautions, we continued with our philanthropy events and our Confidence Week (where we had different things to hand out on our lawn each day, like buttons, popsicles, and even fortune cookies!). We were glad that we had the opportunity to raise awareness and funds for PCAA and Rainbow House. We also held our late-night dinner, "Mac & Cheese with the KΔs," and sold over 1,300 tickets. Sharing Our Gratitude During the summer, Kappa Delta held its 64th Biennial National Convention. Although the event was virtual, we were excited that the event could still be held in some form and that we could participate. Epsilon Iota was awarded the Collegiate Chapter Recognition Award! We are so grateful and proud to be a part of such a great organization. This past year was challenging, but our chapter pushed through and grew so much. We are extremely grateful for all our wonderful alumnae and the support you have given us this past year. We can't wait to see what the rest of this year brings to us and this chapter!
