2 Sigma Kappa I t has been a wonderful year for the sisters of Beta Tau. We have overcome many challenges thrown our way and accomplished so much. We started the recruitment season strong by welcoming 81 wonderful new members on Bid Day. The recruitment team pulled off an amazing recruitment with numbers that Beta Tau had not seen in recent years. Our Bid Day theme was "Written in the Stars," and was organized by Vice President of New Member Education Michelle McKenna '18. This year, Beta Tau was able to resume our annual philanthropy event, Sigma Shootout, and saw a massive turnout across the campus community. Thanks to Vice President of Philanthropic Service Haley Russo '19, we held a successful philanthropy event leading up to the Walk to End Alzheimer's, raising over $20,000 for the Alzheimer's Association! In other good news, Beta Tau was accredited as a Chapter of Excellence this year after ranking in the highest bracket of Florida Greek Standards points. We enjoyed an annual overnight sisterhood trip this year to Atlanta, Georgia, where sisters had a thrilling time at Six Flags and saw sights such as the Georgia Aquarium and Ponce City Market. Many of our sisters are active in roles outside of Sigma Kappa, including Student Government, Florida Blue Key, Order of Omega, Gator Growl, Danza, Sister Support Ambassadors, Preview Staffers, The Big Event, Project Makeover, March of Dimes, FYF Peer Leaders, Best Buddies, Pi Chi, and various positions in the Panhellenic Council. In addition, Lindsay Kaighin '19 competed in the Homecoming pageant this year and was awarded as having the most school spirit at the event. It is wonderful to see so many sisters engaged in both the sorority and on campus. This year has been fantastic so far, and I'm excited to see what else the chapter can accomplish.
