page 4 Marti Kuhn Schroeder '74 In the fall of 1973, I was given a gift that continues to this day: membership in Delta Delta Delta. I, along with my pledge sisters, would begin to understand the unique qualities of our chapter. Several of my pledge sisters are still my closest friends even though we have not lived in the same state for over 40 years. We all lived in the house at 901 Richmond, and because of this, we really knew our sisters and our house, but that much living in one place does take its toll on furnishings, floors, and space in general. We have been given the opportunity to provide our beloved house with a much-needed facelift. The beautiful design and implementation of A Fresh Look for 901 will ensure future Tri Deltas a wonderful place to live and grow. I have contributed to this campaign to honor my pledge sisters and best friends. In 1973, I benefited from the generosity of Delta Xi alumnae who made sure we had a living space in which to thrive. I ask you to consider how Tri Delta has impacted your life. How many of your sisters were in your wedding? How many do you stay in contact with? If you can, make a donation that celebrates these moments. Heather Riemann Slusher '86 I believe it's important to give back to the organizations that gave so much to me when I was a young woman. Delta Xi was pivotal in my developmental success at the University of Missouri. Delta Xi was a home away from home where deep and lifelong friendships were made. It also encouraged and opened doorways to my involvement in numerous campus organizations as well, thus sparking my lifelong love of volunteerism. It's now my turn to pay it forward and donate to the organization that helped me so much and in so many ways! It really doesn't matter what the amount is—if all my Delta Xi sisters gave a little, it would amount to a lot and have a huge impact on the young women just getting their start in Tri Delta at Mizzou! Shannon Rodgers Ockerhausen '87 Living at 901 Richmond for three of my four years are some of my most treasured memories. I made lifelong friendships in that home. Imagine the joy I experienced when both of my daughters pledged Delta Xi and had the opportunity to share in making their own memories and friendships there. It seemed only natural for us to donate to Delta Xi. My girls and I desire for past, current, and future Delta Xi members to have a beautiful place they are proud to call home. Heidi Ward Touchette '89 After discussing donating to Delta Xi with my husband, it didn't take long to realize why it was so important for me to help in their efforts. The first obvious reason was because, at the time, my oldest daughter was a senior Tri Delta, and my youngest daughter had just pledged. I knew this would benefit them while they spent time there, and I wanted them to be able to enjoy the beauty of the house that so desperately needed an update. The main, and most important, reason I wanted to donate to Delta Xi came from a place so deep in my heart. I gained such special friendships through Tri Delta that continue through today. The symbols, the values, and the beliefs that Tri Delta taught me gave me an awareness of how important friendships could be in my life. I couldn't help but give, not only for my own daughters, but also for all new and upcoming Tri Deltas. Our house deserved to have that same beauty in its design and décor as a representation of the girls it holds. I just wanted to give back so that others can have the chance to experience what I did. Allison Chesher Nelson '91 I gave to Tri Delta this year in memory of my best friend and pledge mom, Kim Lewis Yates '90, who passed away last April. Kim and I knew each other for 10 years before she became instrumental in my pledging Tri Delta. Kim embraced her time at Delta Xi Chapter with the same passion and dedication she gave to everything in her life. She embodied our motto that Tri Delta members are brave, bold, and kind. She was a testament to serving others and always strived to be the best version of herself. She touched so many lives and left an indelible mark on those who were lucky enough to have known her. My hope is that Tri Deltas who never had the opportunity to meet Kim will be inspired to live each day to the fullest in her honor! Melanie Collier Eschen '07 Being from a small town, I hardly knew anyone on Bid Day. Little did I know, the girls in the matching neon orange baby tees would be the friends I needed in every part of my life. They have been with me through my worst days, haircuts, clothes, and heartaches, but mostly, they have been there to lift me up and be a part of some of my favorite memories. By giving back to Delta Xi, I know that I will be helping some other small-town girl to meet her best friends and have the best of times. Taryn Cadle Miles '11 Delta Xi had a profound impact on my college experience at Mizzou and still does today! I am grateful for the lifelong friends I made during my time at Delta Xi who have become roommates, bridesmaids, and sisters. Giving back is a way to say thank you for these blessings, and it's my hope future members of Delta Xi have as great of an experience as I did at 901 Richmond.
