Our new rock wall under construction. Our new driveway and rock wall are complete! T he 2021-22 academic year is underway, and although things are not back to pre-pandemic "normal," we are slowly moving in that direc- tion. As always, Kappa Alpha Theta is off to a great start! Over the summer, a lot of effort went into getting 603 Kentucky Blvd. looking her best for the women's return. Inside, rooms were painted, win- dows were repaired, walls were patched, and the entire House received a thorough cleaning from the third floor to the basement. Outside, landscap- ing was refreshed with new plants and flowers poised to bloom during Recruitment Week. Two other major projects worth mentioning are the replacement of several key components of a few of our older air condi- tioning units as well as the new driveway and rock wall next to the Evans Scholar House. Much consideration went into selecting the right brick to best match the House and stay within budget. Drive by and check it out— it looks fantastic! Throughout the break, our COVID-19 Task Force continued to monitor the appropriate federal, state, and local agencies and university guidelines to determine the necessary precautions that would need to be in effect this fall. As in previous semesters, we are following the recommendations and policies set forth by the University. Upon moving in, the women received copies of Theta's policies and protocols. Both in-house and out-of-house members signed agreements to follow these protocols, and they have done a great job doing so. Luckily, we have had very few women needing to quarantine and/or isolate. Recruitment Week was held in person with the appropriate precautions. Once again, Kappa Alpha Theta made quota with 65 impressive new women. As I write this letter, everyone is gearing up for Homecoming next week. Theta's partners this year are Sigma Tau Gamma and Tau Kappa Epsilon. Friday night's House Decs took place in our driveway along with a party on the patio. I hope you were able to stop by. As I mentioned earlier, Thetas are poised to have a great year! Stay tuned.
