THE THETA UPDATE 2 10.75" O ur fall 2021 semester is in full swing after a very successful spring. For the third semester in a row, our chapter earned the highest GPA in the Panhellenic community. Despite the challenges in learning brought on by the pandemic, our members persevered and had an incredibly successful academic term. At the end of the semester, we had to say goodbye to our 49 graduates. From California to Washington, D.C., to locally in Columbia, our newest alumnae are making a difference through internships, jobs, continuing education, and beyond. Our members returned to campus in early August for an in-person spirit week and recruitment. After over a year apart, it was great to all be in the same place and have the opportunity to spend time together as we prepared for the incoming Thetas. We welcomed home 65 incredible new members! Our chapter celebrated with our Bid Day, themed "Be Bold, Be You," which allowed members to express themselves and their vibrant styles. We are looking forward to the rest of the semester. As of now, our chapter will be able to resume in-person chapter meetings, larger sisterhood events, and Homecoming activities. The academic mentorship program is beginning, which connects new members to other new members in their major and allows upperclassman with a similar major or career goal to share their experiences. We also are looking forward to I-Week and initiation, which will look very similar to previous years, with activities for all member classes to participate in. Following initiation is Homecoming, which we have already started preparing for. We are ecstatic that we will be able to participate in House Decorations and the parade this year—we greatly missed those favorite traditions of ours! Being able to be together this semester has brought our sisterhood even closer together. We are grateful for the ways we've learned to connect virtually but are thrilled to see each other again in person. We are excited for a healthy, fun-filled semester!
