4 The Lion's Share H i, I am Mackenzie Gallagher '18, and I am honored to serve Alpha Omicron as their Chapter President. I am a senior this year studying Hospitality and Tourism Management. I am from Edmond, Oklahoma, and I was initiated into Alpha Delta Pi in fall of 2018. As I think back over the past year and our accomplishments, I couldn't be more thankful for this opportunity and to work with these 189 beautiful women! As we are still living in the world of COVID-19, our goal at AO is to make it feel as normal as possible within the sisterhood while still being safe and social distancing. We have encouraged our members to stay connected by hanging in small groups, having chats via Zoom, and interacting over social media with each other. As we start back this fall semester, we have the privilege of living in our beautiful new Chapter house! In late July, we had our Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony where alumnae from all over and our members came together to join us in a long- awaited celebration! At that moment, I felt the strength and love from this sisterhood as we all cheered together for the opening of our new home! About the same time, Alpha Omicron was awarded the Three Diamond Chapter Award! This is huge! We won this award because of our amazing members' engagements and dedication and the support from our alumnae. This semester is full of fun events, such as Homecoming, date parties, and philanthropy events. The event I am looking forward to the most is our Pizookie event! We are going day by day and learning how to adapt to living together and in our new home. I like to think that our sisterhood is so strong that the house has adapted to us. We are trying to bring all of the past traditions back to life! As I look toward the end of my term as President, it brings tears to my eyes that I will only serve for two more months. This Chapter has impacted my life and each and every member will always be in my heart. Words could never explain my gratitude to our advisors, members, and alumnae that have help Alpha Omicron through this year of unknown. Thank you for everything! There were lots of challenges with transitioning to actually recruiting from a sorority house as well as going from virtual to in-person recruitment. We really only had one Alpha class that had recruited in person. Our members stepped up and impressed me! It was very cool to get to see all of my sisters work together and support each other throughout work week and recruitment. A lot of the feedback I heard or witnessed from potential new members (PNMs) during recruitment was that people were thoroughly impressed with our home. It was a very different experience, but I really enjoyed it. It made each day easier, because all we had to do was walk downstairs. It was definitely a different dynamic than in previous years. All in all, recruitment is an experience that I personally love. I loved getting to watch our members interact with the PNMs. It might be a difficult and stressful two weeks, but at the end of it all, I was just so grateful for the experience! We were able to get an amazing group of 51 Alphas, and I look forward to this next year with all of them!
