FACEBOOK "…Maybe it's because the main first floor layout was similar to the old house, but even though it was new and different, it still felt like our ADPi 1309 home. What a transformation!" FACEBOOK "It's worthy of every diamond there." FACEBOOK "Big dreams became a reality!! Fabulous new house!!" FACEBOOK "Absolutely stunning!!! Exceeded my expectations!!" FACEBOOK "The beauty of the house was beyond compare. It definitely shines all through the inside and stands out on the outside. I felt the new and I felt the history—I felt the sisterhood! I am proud to call this new house my AΔΠ home!" FACEBOOK "I felt an incredible amount of pride at the results of the hard work and attention to detail put into the project by everyone involved. It was clear that it was a labor of love to be enjoyed by all generations of Alpha Omicron sisters – past, present, and future. Alpha Delta Pi shines bright like a diamond on the OSU campus." Home Is Where the Heart Is Bonye Baker Newcomb '76 Discusses Her Family's Role on the New Chapter House W hen Bonye Baker Newcomb '76 donated to the campaign, she—like many alumnae—did so because she wanted to give back to ADPi for all it has given her. She also did so as thanks to Alpha Omicron for choosing her family for a special part of the Chapter's history: building the new Chapter house. Bonye's son, Tobin, worked as the designing architect on our new home, and her husband, Jim, acted as a consultant and structural engineer. She loved spending time with Tobin during the design process, reliving memories and telling him little things that might spark an idea. "He wanted so much for this to be special for me, and it was so important to him to not only build a new house for the future, but to also pay respect to the past by including relics for alumnae members," Bonye said. "Plus, he knows most of my ADPi friends, so he was doing it for us all. I think he nailed it! I'm so proud of him!" Bonye and her sister, Becky Baker Lippert '74, grew up in the small town of Hennessey, Oklahoma, and knew little about Greek Life. Becky rushed at the last minute and chose ADPi because the two sisters both knew many "small-town girls" and 4-H members in the sisterhood. When Bonye later arrived at OSU, she already knew from Becky that Alpha Omicron was for her. "Some of my best friends to this day are my sisters from AO. I am still in constant contact with my Big and my Little, as well as other members of my pledge class." Tobin and Jim met with everyone on the building committee countless times for input during the house design process. "They wanted to make sure that the ladies' passion and dreams became a reality," Bonye said. "So you can imagine that, anytime we were all together, ADPi was a topic of conversation. Many, many hours have been spent devoted to the new house, and I've been right in the middle of it! But I wouldn't have it any other way." Bonye has many fond undergraduate memories of Spring Sing, playing piano for Freshman Follies, and of course, the simple day-to- day memories of spending time with her sisters. She still sees many ADPi friends regularly and loves visiting Stillwater for football and Homecoming, always stopping to visit the Chapter house on the way. Her favorite pastimes are travel and spending time with her children and grandkids, and she loves to sew as well—for family and at her monthly sewing group in Oklahoma City.
