Lyre Notes Alpha Nu Chapter of ΑΧΩ at the University of Missouri Fall 2021 A lpha Chi Omega National President Lynne Herndon made a surprise visit to Alpha Nu on August 8 to present the National Council Trophy for the best overall performance in 2020 for large chapters. This is the highest award a chapter can achieve. During her presentation, Lynne elaborated on some of the reasons why Alpha Nu received this prestigious award: • Hosted a diversity, equity and inclusion presentation during 2020's pre-recruitment week to help members understand how to cultivate an inclusive recruitment experience. • Promoted Alpha Chi throughout the campus community and in hometowns. • Raised money through an Instagram campaign for organizations supporting Black Lives Matter and donated $2,000 to the cause. • Hosted the executive director of True North of Columbia, who spoke to the chapter about domestic violence and its impact on the community. • Adeptly pivoted to social media domestic violence awareness education and fundraising during the pandemic. • Hosted a virtual trivia game to celebrate the chapter's founding anniversary. • Educated members on risk management topics through the chapter's risk management Instagram account. • Provided weekly updates on mental health resources to make sure members knew what was available to them should they need help during the pandemic. • Conducted a Symphony Swap to help members connect with each other while they were away from campus. • Sponsored a socially distanced drive-in movie event. • Recognized a sister each week during chapter meetings who went above and beyond with the Carnation of the Week award. The members, who were preparing for recruitment, took time to take photos with Lynne and the trophy as well as celebrate with a special cake and other refreshments. Several Alpha Nu alumnae from the chapter's advisory and house corporation boards attended the celebration. The chapter also won the trophy in 2017. It was a special celebration for sisters Taylor Dailing '15 and Meg Dailing '17. Taylor was the chapter president when Alpha Nu was recognized in 2017 and Meg was president in 2020.
