MissouriAlpha • 2 • MEET THE MISSOURI ALPHA ALUMNI BOARD WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY FROM 405 KENTUCKY? • Too many to list. ~ Vern Smith '73 • It's hard to pick one. Mark Schordock '84 and I beat the Betas in handball doubles with a big group of brothers cheering us on from the balcony. When Mike Brame '86 was rushing Missouri Alpha, I learned we had the same vision of what brotherhood meant. It affirmed why I joined SigEp several years before. ~ Ed Clausen '84 • Sandblast. I still have some great party pics from those events and remember when Shawn McMillan '85 ate four goldfish and swallowed a crawdad whole. A follow-up answer is just watching everyone's back. Scott Mercer '85, donned in boots, shorts, and a motorcycle helmet while sporting a baseball bat, cleared about 20 of the dormies who were throwing snowballs at the house. ~ Mason Laster '84 • Assembling with brothers in the living room prior to the dining room doors opening for dinner. Great camaraderie! ~ Mark Schordock '84 • They're countless, but I'll cite homecoming activities from my last two years (1984 and 1985 with ΑΧΩ and APhi). I was involved with designing and building house decorations, and we earned a second-place trophy each of those years. In addition to several weeks of great social activity, it was a wonderful personal growth experience for me, as I took on a major team project and saw it to the end. ~ Adam Baer '85 • I was honored to live at 405 Kentucky during my entire four years of college. It was a great learning experience and it made me develop as a leader during my junior and senior years on the executive board. ~ Steve Pfaff '85 • Returning to SigEp in the fall. After grueling, mind-numbing summer jobs, nothing beat coming back to 405 Kentucky a week or two early and just sitting on the porch for hours and days with the brothers! ~ Greg Olwig '86 • Watching and attending the St. Louis Cardinals playoff games with all the brothers in the fall of 1985 and 1987. ~ Phil Schroeder '87 • The opportunity to live at 405 Kentucky with 70-plus other brothers and the lifelong friendships that were forged during those years. ~ Paul Shomper '90 • Homecoming house decorations were always my favorite. There were a lot of hands-on brothers in the chapter and we always created great house decorations and an awesome parade float using a 1965 Ford Galaxy 500. The theme that year was The Muppets. ~ Greg Raeman '91 WHY DO YOU FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL ALUMNI TO RECONNECT OR STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE CHAPTER? • We are the caretakers of the future. We all truly loved our experience in the chapter. This shared experience resulted in a true sense of loyalty and friendship that has Vern Smith '73 lives in Wildwood, Mo.
