Published by your Alumni Board of Trustees and House Corporation – Volume 22, Issue 1 DELTA CHI, ALABAMA CHAPTER – SUMMER 2021 "A Membership for a Lifetime" To Brighter Days We Can't Wait to Welcome You Back W e hope our newsletter finds you and your families well. Through the many difficulties of the past year, the Alabama Chapter of Delta Chi has sustained a strong house. Despite the pandemic, quarantines and social distancing the past three semesters, our Active Chapter has continued to grow, including another outstanding Associate Member class this past fall. Our Brothers successfully completed philanthropy and other campus activities throughout the year. To prepare for 2021-22, they are actively assembling our next Associate Member class. Debbie Kober, our House Director, continues to facilitate our day-to-day housing and Active Chapter needs, such as meal service, room leases and regular repair and maintenance to the Chapter House. For the 2021-22 academic year, we hope to resume regular activities at the Chapter House. Access to the House has been limited to Active Brothers throughout the pandemic. With UA planning to fully reopen campus, we hope Alumni will return as they support our Crimson Tide this fall. We expect to resume pre-game meals, band parties and other activities. The Active Chapter and ABT will closely monitor these activities throughout the summer. For many years, we have held our annual Jefferson J. Coleman Award and Alumni Dinner in Birmingham. We were fortunate to hold our most recent dinner in February 2020, just before lockdowns began. As banquet facilities reopen to normal capacity throughout the year, we hope to host another dinner soon. Our Active Chapter battled through the pandemic and remains strong on campus. We appreciate your continued support for our Chapter. Please follow our Chapter on social media for more updates. We hope to see you soon in Tuscaloosa and beyond. The Old Goats Reunite By Brian Crawford '74 F ourteen "Old Goats," representing the Pledge Classes of 1971 to 1974, recently met for fellowship, refreshments, and storytelling in Birmingham. Hosted by Jim Maples '71, the group convened at Inverness Country Club for beverages and snacks before walking down to Jim's house on the golf course. There, they enjoyed the wonderful hospitality provided by Jim and his lovely wife, Jane, as well as more adult beverages and hors d'oeuvres as they got reacquainted and reminisced. Some of us had not seen each other since we graduated. (And yes, Martha, the fish did get bigger with time!) The "Old Goats" expect to reconvene prior to the September 4 CFA kickoff game against Miami. In attendance:
