Chair r speaksspeaks Chamber Welcomes New Board I am honored to have been selected as your new board chair for the Fayetteville Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, and look forward to leading the board and being an advocate for the business community. Please join me in thanking Dan Dederick for serv- ing as your board chair for the past two years. Thanks should also go to his company, Hendrick Chrysler Jeep, and his family for supporting his efforts to serve our community. His long-standing commitment to being a leader to the business community has truly made a positive impact on Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Last month marked the end of your fi scal year Chris Bostock and I would like you to join me in welcoming four new members to our board of directors: Larry Keen - president of Fayetteville Technical Community College. Karen Wrigley - manager of DuPont’s Fayetteville Works. Steve Mannell - CFO of Strategic Solutions Unlimited. Steve will also serve as Vice Chair of Business Development. Charlie Allen, Green Biz Nursery, whowill also lead our rapidly growing Fayetteville Young Professionals (FYP) program. The end of our fi scal year also marked the end of the board terms of Wick Smith from Biz Tools One, Gordon Rose from Black River Design & Build, Dineen Morton Business ssSpotlightSpotlight with Bayada Nurses, Kirk deViere of deViere Management Group, and Diane Parfi tt from City Center Gallery & Books. The leadership of these individuals has been critical in transforming our Chamber over the last several years. Please join me in thanking them for giving their time and talents to make Fayetteville and Cumberland County a better place live and do business. As our national economy recovers from the “great recession” our local economy is growing in both real and relative terms. We were recently reminded of this over the last week. The economic research fi rm POLICOM reported that Fayetteville’s economy grew in economic strength compared to similar sized city’s throughout the country. Also, the consulting fi rm of Booz Allen Hamilton held their grand opening for their new facility on Morganton Road. Booz also demonstrated that the impact of a growing business transcends our economic base by making a large contribution to the Airborne and Special Operations Museum during their grand opening ceremony. We are truly fortunate to have this nationally recognized consulting fi rm choose our region to operate one major offi ce. The Chamber has several events coming up that are designed to help you promote your business and increase your networking base that you will want to keep on your radar. Our President and CEO, Doug Peters, will give the annual State of Our Chamber message on July 27 at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux. Our monthly Business After Hours will be held on July 22 at Husk Hardware and don’t miss our annual GPC trade show on August 4 at the Fort Bragg Club. I will look forward to seeing you at these events.
