Alpha Mu News Alpha Mu Chapter of Kappa Delta at the University of Mississippi | Spring 2021 Alpha Mu Welcomes Home Our Sisters! Building a Tradition of Excellence Campaign Comes to a Close on August 31st M ay 14-16 was a memorable Alpha Mu weekend, as more than 500 alumnae and friends of the Chapter toured the new Chapter House. The weekend was highlighted with the dedication ceremony of our new home on May 15, which was attended by more than 200 sisters. The dedication ceremony recognized Alpha Mu's hard-working volunteers and the loyal 361 sisters and friends who showed their love for ΚΔ by collectively contributing more than $2 million to the Building on a Tradition of Excellence campaign. This campaign will come to an official close on August 31st. As we wrap up this summer, it brings me great joy to say the capital campaign was a success, even raising a little over our goal! We were blessed to be joined by several prominent featured speakers at the dedication ceremony, including Kappa Delta Executive Director Pamela Nix, Director of Ole Miss Fraternity and Sorority Life Arthur Doctor, Leigh Anne Roberts Tuohy '79, Amy Russell Scruggs '94, Suzanne Herron Helveston '99, and Chapter President Isabella Webb '18. It was so wonderful to have generations of sisters come together to celebrate everything Alpha Mu has accomplished and the Chapter's promising future. The sensational Saturday also included some light refreshments following the ceremony and a fun ΚΔ crawfish party in the evening. Seeing alumnae and collegians alike share in their excitement about the Chapter House was truly a sight to behold. We're so thankful that our senior members were able to move into the new Chapter House for the end of their senior year. After moving in on March 26, they had a celebratory senior brunch on March 27 and joined the rest of the Chapter for a Spirit Day on March 28 to conclude what was another monumental weekend for Alpha Mu. Our live-in members were welcomed into our new home with special ΚΔ goodie bags. Members have taken full advantage of the increased space, including formal dinners for the whole Chapter, senior white rose event, Zumba dance class, movie night, senior cooking class, parent weekend, recruitment practice, and Chapter meetings. With a year of social distancing and isolation, it has been a sigh of relief for sisters to be together again. With the amount of space in our new home, they can gather safely and truly enjoy the special sisterhood. We can't wait for the many more events to come in our gorgeous new home, thanks to dedicated alumnae who made this dream a reality! We thank you all from the bottom of our heart. And to those who have delayed your support, we hope you'll look back at your Alpha Mu experience and see what gifts it has given you. Love in AOT, Alpha Mu House Corporation Board P.S. Thank you to all generous donors who helped Alpha Mu reach our $2 million goal; e did it! See photos of the weekend on page 4!
