WWW.UPANDCOMINGWEEKLY.COM JUNE 2-8, 2021 UCW 19 WEEKLY HOROSCOPE NEWS OF THE WEIRD by the Editors at Andrews McMeel Syndication Family Values You let your grown son, his girlfriend and their child move into your house, and what thanks do you get in return? For a 43-year-old Lone Rock, Wisconsin, woman, "Happy Mother's Day" was expressed with a shock to the neck from a Taser wielded by her 22-year- old son, Andrew Peterson. According to The Smoking Gun, Peterson became upset because he couldn't find his phone, so he stunned his mother, then left her home with 20-year- old Colleen Parker and their child. Peterson was arrested for the shocking assault; Parker also was arrested for allegedly punching Peterson's mom in the face earlier in the week. Sweet Revenge On May 4, in Taipei, two masked men entered the G House Taipei restaurant carrying bags filled with more than 1,000 cockroaches, Oddity Central reported. They released the creepy crawlies at the reception desk on the second floor, then fled. Law enforcement officers who happened to be attending a banquet at the restaurant that evening initially thought the attack was directed at them, but as it turns out, the suspects are part of Bamboo Union, an organized crime ring, and the restaurant owner allegedly owed money to the mob. Police said they would pursue the perpetrators as if the stunt had been an act of violence, something like attacking someone with paint. Oops! Kevin Johnson was arrested in Maricopa County, Arizona, after he left behind an obvious bit of evidence when he slashed two of his neighbor's tires, the Mari- copa Monitor reported. Franc- esca Wikoff found her flat tires, along with a severed finger lying on the driveway, and police said a trail of blood led to a nearby home. The night before, Johnson had allegedly become drunk and belligerent at a neighborhood get-together, where he shoved and threatened Wikoff and her husband before being asked to leave. He was charged with criminal damage and assault, along with other offenses. Question: e first season of "Big Sky" was awesome and we couldn't wait for the new season. We watched both opening hours and when it was over, we looked at each other and asked, do you know what's going on? Seven or eight new characters and plots jumping all over the place. — Heilig Matt Roush: You're not the only one who wrote in being confused by the sudden shifting of gears. To be clear, "Big Sky" is still officially in its first season, although there was a clear break in narrative when the show went on a two-month hiatus. e kidnapping storyline was resolved in February, and while psycho trucker Ronald Pergman is still on the loose, "Big Sky" basically did a reset when it returned in April to tackle another book in author C.J. Box's "Highway" series of thrillers, the show's source material. I agree it was a messy transition, trying to establish the new partnership of in- vestigators while also introducing in rather murky fashion the dirty deal- ings of the Kleinsasser family. To submit questions to TV Critic Matt Roush, go to: tvinsider.com. By Damian Holbrook Cheers to "NCIS: Los Angeles" for bringing Hetty (Linda Hunt) back home. All year, the team's be- loved operations manager has been "on a mission," but in CBS's Season 12 finale, she finally returned to HQ to remind us all what an integral part of the action the Oscar winner will always be. Jeers to CBS for not honoring thy mother. It's a shame "Mom" didn't get the fanfare it deserved. You'd think a comedy that lasted eight seasons, nabbed two Emmys for star Allison Janney and evolved into a keen-eyed, authentic portrait of women in sobriety would earn at least a retrospective special. Jeers to Reality Shows in a Rush. "Married at First Sight," "90 Day Fiancé," "One Week to Sell." Sorry, but major relationships and renova- tions should take longer than the accelerated timelines unscripted TV is feeding us.
