Science in mechanical engineering from Columbia University. During his first semester at Columbia, Colin thought he wanted to go into biomedical engineering. However, he soon realized it wasn't the right path for him and he had to do some soul-searching. "I've always been passionate about cars, motorcycles, and anything that shoots fire and goes fast," Colin said. "So, I started to explore those interests professionally. Turns out, you really can be a rocket scientist, so I switched to mechanical engineering and joined the Formula SAE Team where we designed and built our own race car." Colin took his first job out of college as a propulsion engineer at Raytheon Missile Systems, where he spent two years before joining SpaceX. Though he can't share much about his time at Raytheon, Colin has had an exciting career so far at SpaceX. He was part of the team that launched the first Falcon Heavy, and his name is engraved on a plaque attached to the Tesla inside of it that's currently cruising around the solar system! His work on the Falcon 9 program directly contributed to the success of the commercial astronaut program, as SpaceX has successfully launched six astronauts, with more coming soon, to the International Space Station. Colin is currently leading a team of engineers in developing the Raptor engine family, which will bring their new vehicle, Starship, to orbit Earth and go to the moon and Mars. "Being a DKE brother instills a sense of dedication, hard work, and loyalty that has helped my individual mindset while also ensuring I work well with others and lead teams successfully," Colin said. Today, Colin lives in Los Angeles, which happens to be a hot spot for 152-156s, so he tries to get together with those brothers whenever he can. Though he is far away from New York, Colin enjoys participating in the annual meetings and big alumni events at Colgate, such as the 50th anniversary of Colgate Rugby.
