(In summer 2020, Kappa Alpha Theta Headquarters changed their policy on legacy members for recruitment; therefore, we now do not have access to members who are legacy members.) Welcome to the Latest Mizzou Thetas! A ngel Stewart '81 wasn't sure how she felt about Greek life before going through the recruitment process, but she thought it was worth a try. Once Angel met the sisters of Alpha Mu, she simply felt at home. "I thought I had found my group, so to speak," Angel said. "Kappa Alpha Theta made such a difference in my success at the University of Missouri." She loved that there was always someone around to motivate her, study with her, talk to, or participate in all kinds of activities with. "My sisters were always there to pick me up after a rough class or test," Angel said. "There was always someone to play with, laugh with, or cry with." As an active member of Alpha Mu, Angel fondly remembers all great times she had with her sisters. "Something was always happening," Angel said. "We worked hard for grades since we wanted to be able to move into the house as sophomores." She spent three years living in a place filled with strong women all working to succeed in their own way. "I should also say that I had the best pledge class ever," Angel said. "And I am serious—what a tremendous group of women who have made all types of things better in our world." After graduating from Mizzou, Angel attended the University of Missouri School of Medicine and became a medical doctor in 1988, completing her residency in anesthesiology in 1992. She has worked in the field of anesthesia since, yet her career has been divided into three sections. The first decade of Angel's career was spent in a busy private practice at a tertiary hospital. During this time, she served as chairman and medical director. "This was a great time professionally and personally," Angel said. "I really had the opportunity to hone my skills as an anesthesiologist while enjoying raising my two children, Justin and Beth." The second decade of her career saw Angel switching over to an academic practice Angel Stewart '81 with Alpha Mu sisters and Chi Omegas at the Masquerade in 1983. (Continued on page 4)
