When our active members returned for second semester, the policies and precautions enacted first semester remained "the norm" with changes being made as new information became available. The women were remarkable in educating themselves and adhering to the rules. Given the totality of the circumstances, our positive COVID-19 case numbers were on the very low end of the spectrum for both the semester and the year. Another milestone—after 17 years as Alpha Mu's Advisory Board chairwoman, Rebecca Jones '89 is retiring. For those of you who don't know Rebecca, she is a Delta Theta from the University of Illinois but has spent over four times that long as part of Alpha Mu's Chapter! In addition to serving as advisory board chairwoman, Rebecca has also taken on other leadership roles within the chapter (facility advisor, Panhellenic advisor, scholarship advisor) as needed, and she served on numerous taskforce committees for the University's Greek Life Department. Under Rebecca's leadership Alpha Mu received its third Founders Cup for Excellence and two Outstanding Advisory Board awards, as well as numerous campus advisory awards. She has presided over two capital campaigns, one major remodel, three new facility directors, 18 executive boards, and, most recently, a pandemic campus closing and the first-ever virtual recruitment. In her words, "What a long, strange trip it has been!" Rebecca will remain active in Theta by staying on Alpha Mu's Facility Corporation Board. Additionally, drawing on her experience and knowledge, she can impart words of wisdom to her daughter, Riley, University of Minnesota, who was recently elected chief recruitment officer. (Her other daughter, Maren, will attend the University of Iowa this fall. Mom and Riley have fingers crossed she will follow in their footsteps!) And for the final big milestone worth mentioning, Denise Dodson is celebrating 20 years with Alpha Mu. Denise has been an integral member of the team that works hard to keep 603 Kentucky looking its best. Thank you, Denise!
