MaY 9-15, 2021 Treat mom to something fresh at First Watch R ight now at First Watch restaurant, it's time to follow the sun and discover ingredients that shine during springtime. Dedicated to featuring fresh seasonal produce from local growers whenever possible, First Watch is always coming up with exciting new ways to combine healthy and delicious for breakfast, brunch and lunch. Their brand new menu items sure to please along with the tried and true—but wholly inventive— creations that First Watch offers everyday. Right now, peak strawberry season is here. Right now, you'll find juicy berries front and center in dishes like their Floridian French Toast—thick-cut brioche with wheat germ and powdered cinnamon sugar, covered with fresh banana, kiwi and, you guessed it: fresh strawberries. Or try their made-to-order steel-cut oatmeal, topped with house-marinated berries, fresh sliced banana and pecans. Served with low-fat milk, brown sugar and a fresh baked muffin of the day. Arugula grows best in early spring, and you'll find it dressing up many fresh dishes on the menu, including the Chicken Avocado Chop Salad, featuring chopped romaine and arugula, all-natural chicken breast, avocado, tomatoes, corn, black beans, Feta cheese and crispy tortilla chips with a citrus chipotle dressing. Or, try their BLT Benedict—two poached cage-free eggs atop toasted ciabatta piled high with bacon, vine-ripened tomato, avocado and lemon-dressed arugula and covered with hollandaise. It's served with lightly dressed organic mixed greens. Pineapples are also at their prime from March to July, which is why First Watch chose them as the star ingredient in their Golden Glow juice—pineapple, turmeric, orange, coconut water and lemon. The best tomatoes are ready to start harvesting now, and they make all the difference in dishes like the loaded smoked salmon bagel—a toasted NY everything bagel (made in da' Bronx) topped with scallion cream cheese, sliced cucumber, tomato, Wild Alaska Smoked Sockeye Salmon, house-pickled red onions and lemon dressed arugula. Tomatoes also play a starring role in the Shrimp & Grits, featuring sautéed shrimp and Cajun andouille sausage reduced with chicken stock, house-roasted tomatoes, onions, green peppers and scallions, and served over Bob's Red Mill Cheddar Parmesan cheese grits, with artisan ciabatta toast.
