A native of Rutherford County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Lillie Watkins Andrews. Left to cherish her mem- ory is her husband, Derek G. Smith of the home; daugh- ters, Shawna Mitchell (Daniel) of Enterprise, AL, Twanissa Burch (Von) of Forest City, Erica Jackson (Jerome) of Forest City, Mirinda Page of Forest City, Brooke Price of Rutherfordton; 2 grandchil- dren; brothers, Ralph Watkins (Winnie) of Forest City Sammy Watkins of Greensboro, Melvin Watkins of Forest City; sisters Lynetta Flint (Michael) of Greensboro, Tribby Watkins of Greensboro, Sandra Epps Watkins of Rutherfordton. JOHN F. LUCKADOO John F. Luckadoo, age 86, of Green Creek, passed away April 6, 2021. He was the son of the late Cone & Mafrey Luckadoo and he was a native of Rutherford County. In addition to his par- ents John was preced- ed in death by 2 brothers, James Luckadoo & Wayne Luckadoo, & 3 sisters, Annie Mae Luckadoo Stacey, Ada Luckadoo McComas, & Mary Luckadoo Walker. John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years: Wilda Luckadoo; 1 daughter: Lynn Luckadoo West & husband Brad, of Roanoke, VA; 1 son: Rodney Luckadoo & wife Angie, of Green Creek; 1 sis- ter: Shirley Luckadoo Wagner, Chicago, IL; 1 brother: Charles (Pug) H. Luckadoo (Carolyn) of Rutherfordton, 5 grandchildren, & 5 great-grandchildren & a host of nieces & nephews. The Funeral Service was held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. MARGARET HODGE HILL Margaret Hodge Hill, age 99, of Rutherfordton, passed away April 9, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Willie Furman Hodge & the late Lela Sims Hodge & she was a native of Rutherford County. Margaret was the widow of the late Leroy Hill. In addition to her par- ents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Breymon Hodge & J. Faulton Hodge. S h e i s s u r - vived by 3 daughters: Peggy Taylor (Claybern), of Mt. Airy; Pat Hill, of Rutherfordton; Sharon Wall (Randy), of Cliffside, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, & 1 great-great-grandchild. A graveside ser- vice was held at Piedmont Baptist Church Cemetery. Interment held at Piedmont Baptist Church Cemetery, Rutherfordton. MATTHEW "MATT" JONES Matthew "Matt" Jones, age 39, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away April 2, 2021. Matt was born Friday, April 24, 1981 in Rutherford County to Wanda Conner Jones who resides in Lake Worth, FL. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Leonard Conner of Caroleen. In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his grandmother, Freda Garrity of Lowell, NC; sister, Chauna Jones of Miami, FL; two uncles, Dale Conner (Sandi) of Lowell and Steve Stacey (Hope) of Jacksonville, FL. The funeral service was conducted at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. Interment fol- lowed at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family. BARBARA PARTON BATES Barbara Parton Bates, 81, of Forest City, passed away April 7, 2021. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daugh- ter of the late John Hampton Parton and Jennie Bell Head Parton. Left to cherish her mem- ories are her sons, Norris Junior Bates and wife Melinda of Forest City and Terry Dean Bates and wife Misty of Forest City; daughter, Angie Bates Holler and husband Bob of Rutherfordton; six grandchil- dren, four great grandchil- dren, one niece and a number of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Bates. Funeral services were held at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church. Burial followed in Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church cemetery. JEFF ESTEP Jeff Estep, age 46, of Forest City, passed away April 8, 2021. Jeff was born June 8, 1974 to Judy Tate Estep who resides in Forest City & the late Michael Stephen Estep. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Herman & Myrtle Tate, Helen Tate a& Merlin & Margaret Hines & great-grandparents, Zonnie & Florence Estep. Besides his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Stephanie Estep Phillips of Mooresboro; 1 nephew; 1 great-aunt, & a host of uncles, aunts & cous- ins. A graveside service was conducted at New Bethel Baptist Church. Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family. CLYDE E. HUSKEY Clyde E. Huskey, age 89, of Forest City, passed away April 10, 2021. Clyde was born September 25, 1931 in Knoxville, TN to the late Charles Luther Huskey & Dee Esther Shelton Huskey. Clyde served in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War & served as a Tank Crew Chief in the 6 th Tank Battalion as a part of the 24 th Infantry Division. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Ann Adkins Huskey & 2 brothers, Robert Huskey & Frank Huskey. Those left to cherish his memory include 3 daughters, Deborah Bailey (Bill) of Stevensville, Maryland, Diana Simmons (James) of Chester, Maryland, & Linda Orin (John) of Mebane; sisters, Nancy Joan Waltz of Texas, Barbara Huskey of Rutherfordton, Carol Sue Holder of Forest City & Brenda Minnich also of Henrietta; 2 brothers, C.L. Huskey (Delores) of Atlanta, GA & James Huskey (Lillian) of Jacksonville. He is also survived by 8 grand- children & 14 great-grand- children. A graveside service will be conducted at 11am April 16, 2021 at Floyd's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Military Honors will be pro- vided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
